Finally Broke 12's!

I finally broke into 12's tonight! Temp was about 50 degrees and track temp was approx 42 degrees with about a 6 mph headwind I ran a:

12.84 @ 104
12.95 @ 105
12.89 @ 105 (Dialed 12.90 and broke out on brackets)

I am not going to discuss my 2 other runs, well I might as well, its not funny, cause I was hella pissed at first, but my other 2 runs were

13.63 @ 99
13.61 @ 98

What I did was, I had accidently reverted back to the stock tune on the 3rd one, and the 4th one, I didnt realize what I did, so I looped around and took another run, this time with the factory tune and O/D still on, my dumbass forgot to turn it off.

After those 2 runs, I decided to check the tune and low and behold, I accidently reset it back to stock! LOL!!! I am such a god damn idiot sometimes! And of course, the 2 runs were against my friend Mark in his 99L and both of which I got total **** for!

Im very happy with this #, I am now putting the L up for the winter and making some major changes so I can hopefully break into the 11's!

I would like to take a second to thank each and everyone who took the time to help me accomplish what I have with suggestions with mods and what not! Thanks!

-Bill

Congrats. What elevation are you running at. You're trap speeds seems a tad low for you're mods if we are talking close to sea level.

6mph headwind? Dude, it was more like 20!

Yup, Bill finally showed up last night, and got a few runs in with the new nitto's. He showed them to me and they still had the chalk marks on them, I told him to heat the living pi$$ out of them the first time. He did and they hooked. It was about mid 50's temp.

Not to steal the thread, but my first run I left the OD on, and it shifted well before the traps and I ran a 103mph. SO I learned my lesson and turned it off on the others and ran 107-108mph at 5300'ish RPMs. I didn't think the 28" hoosiers would hold traction with the 4.10's but they did and it ran great. I think I finally have the setup I've been after. Fun on the street (4.10's helped there) and consistantly mid-12's (got that covered) while running a Pig RIch and Very conservative street tune (16 degrees timing MAX) so I know I can Play all day long and not have to worry about it. WIth RICH's datlogging my back to back (15 runs) my IAT temps were pretty stable and he said I could hotlap it over and over and run consistently.

Back to Last night.
I think i ran against Bill 3 times last night. Off the line we were pretty close, but once I hit second, I should say once my truck SLAMMED second, bottoming out the rear suspension and flinging me forward like I've been rearended by a gravel hauler, It was all over. I have video of it, but I have to convert it to digital. My friend (another racer) told me my truck looked like a manual when I hit second.

So Bill wanted to run against me. He had a few tunes on his SCT handheld so He was swapping tunes back and forth between his summer and cold weather and Race and stock tunes. After the first run I thought He messed something up becuase he lost almost a second. I thought he gave up.
We lined up again, same result.

Then since I was running slicks I couldn't run in the elimination program they had last night. I wasn't about to put the slippery F1's on with 50 degree temps and 4.10 gears.

So I was going to video tape Bill on his last run when I couldn't pass up the opportunity to video tape the 25 second MOTORHOME from Ontario make their last qualifying run and BLOW UP, spewing it's guts all over the track. I felt bad because that is what they used to tow the trailer. That shut down the track for at least 30 minutes, I was cold and bored so i left and didn't se Bills last run.

VIDEO TO FOLLOW SOON....

Bill, how did my truck look shifting into 2nd gear.

I've driven in a lot of lightnings and none shift as hard as mine, I ordered my FT VB through a local racer in Detroit and I always wondered if I got a 2cr instead of the 2c. Is there anyway to tell? My 2nd gear chips no matter what the speed, and at the track the rear suspension bottoms out! Always has, with the lakewoods and now the JLP Lift bars, with Nitto's or SLicks.

Having the O/D on shouldn't matter, should it? At WOT, my truck doesn't shift into O/D until around 125+
