First slow day after the Christmas season and the sun is shining. My RC boys are a bit bored, so I told one of them to install Sal's PSP filter kit on Moby ****.

Ten minutes later, it's in and we go for a spin. Now I know that Chuck "Wyldman" has mentioned sort of mildly the change in volume on the supercharger and characterizes the PSP filter as "the supercharger waker upper", but that does not begin to tell the tale.

The truck is totally transformed, and it's call is like a chorus of Lions about to make a kill. I promised myself not to use profanity on the board again, but the noise is (fill in the blank) awesome. Felt like I had switched my chip back to the performance mode. I have no idea if it makes more power or less, nor do I care, it is beyond neat. Must have wasted 10 gallons of gas on my 14 mile drive home tonight and I just had to park it to keep from getting a ticket.

This is not necessarily a pitch for Sal's filter, as I believe most all of the ones we've considered on this board are pretty close in concept and excecution, Sal's is very well done though, and choose which brand you will, but just do it. The chips are Viagra I and the filters are Viagra II.

Speaking of chips, if the weather holds tomorrow, we are going to install Sal's chip to check the difference between his and the Superchip. I'm down to a 1/4 tank and will buy a bunch of 104 booster and let the man upstairs sort it out. After all, if it blows up, I've got a spare ho ho.

I bought the downs, I hope it works as well as sals. IM GOING CRAZY, I wont even be able to experience it until spring , all i can do is look at it in the box and wish for spring.Keep us posted about the superchip , i have one of those too.

 

First of all, congrats on getting the filter. I dont know if I will ever get mine. Supposedly it shipped last week but there is still no sign of it.

Second, please do let us know the results of the PSP vs Superchip. I am VERY interested to know how that turns out.

 

Got mine today, will install tomorrow(at work tonite). Well crafted piece of euipment.

Sal is to the best of my knowledge doing his best to supply his filter. Don't know the situation regarding Down's. There are at

least two other brands out there, but as stated earlier, they will probably be pretty close to the same.

As a side bar, took Pat for a quick ride tonite, and she agreed. Sounds like a mating ritual.

I too am eagarly awaiting my psp filer kit.

I have heard nothing but good things about it. I can't wait to put it in and see what it does. If it is as good as people are saying I may have to have a gas tanker follow me around.

 

My Airaid air box is going in tomorrow. I received it second day air, and did not have to pay the postage. It looks incredibly well made with a rather substantial box to hold the filter element. It is fun to order something at the beginning of the week, and be putting it in my toy a couple of days later. Thanks Roger! Superchip coming in the next day at the Superchip factory. Yes!!

Well, I said Sal's filter and chip would arrive this week but I was going out of town Saturday so it would probably stay in the box until I got back......NOT.

They were here when I got home from work today and within an hour they were both installed.

Lions mating, that's a good way to describe the sound this thing makes when you get into it. Boost comes on RIGHT NOW. The AutoMeter says I'm making 2 lb more boost (8.5 to 10.5) The shifts have the right amount of crispness for me and it holds them just the right amount when you are running less than WOT but more than cruise mode (Who says they have the only chip that works through the whole rev range, not just WOT?)

Can you say "gettin rubber in 2nd gear?"

We should have a pretty good road test comparison in the not too distant future. I can represent Sal's full meal deal and Sandy can represent the Airaid / SuperChips combo. Full reports to come, though it will have to wait until I get back, unless Sandy wants to hook up Friday afternoon after he gets the chip in.

Hey, that gives me an idea. SuperChips has a chassis dyno. I wonder if we could get time on it Friday? We could run Sandy and my truck back to back and have real numbers to report. I'll look into it.

I am also getting 10.5 on the new meter (opened it up once to see what I pegged on the boost guage). BTW, the new Airaid (K&N) filter has a closed end whereas Sals has an open end. What I mean is that the end that buts up against the holeleading into the intake from the fender is open so I beleive it wil "suck" in more air compared than any other closed end filter.

 

My Power Surge chip and air filter system was also waiting for me when I got home today but I didn't get a chance to install. May be able to do it this weekend, however. Can't wait!!
