SYCLONE????

If they're both stock, the Syclone should win out. Put a chip and air filter kit on the Lightning, however, and it'll be a close race and could go either way.
I owned a '91 Syclone for 6 years and have owned my '99 Lightning for 6 months, so I've had a bit of experience with both. Two fun trucks, that's for sure!

Sy,no doubt about it. Stock they will run 0-60 under 5 secs.(light weight+awd is a killer combo, wish Ford would have given the L's awd) 1/4 mile range from high 11's to low 13's.But with a mod or two the Sy will pull low 11's consistantly. The high end on the other hand...Well a Sy won't reach 140 w/o the mods(even then I'm skeptical),it's turbo shuts down @ 120.Both are awesome auto's,but like has been said before "apples and oranges".

Out of the box a Syclone will run 13.80s, but only at about 96 mph (hard to turn that AWD at higher rpms). Put a bag of ice on the intercooler and it'll crack out 13.20s. Still all stock. Decent exhaust and a fish tank bleeder valve and they'll run 12.80s.
But they're fragile, fragile, fragile - the AWD is very problematic. You can't tow anything with one. They're basically worthless as a truck. They were built with one thing in mind - Mind bending hole shots and brutal stoplight acceleration.

4wd there is a mechanical link between the front and rear axles, most curent systems lock this link so both turn at the same speed. Older ones (full time 4wd) would use a differential between the two axels, but you could switch to "LOC". Awd uses a viscous coupling (some radiator fans use viscus couplings) the transfer power to each axle. Each axle can turn independant of the other to some degree, plus it is full time you can't switch to 2wd.
