Ok, maybe I did go a little overboard is how it reads, but here's the deal.

I believe that everyone has a right to express their opinion. Good or bad, it's their right.
BUT... This is about more than that, it's about the fact that I spent "MY TIME" today talking to these people about getting this kit put back into production that "I WANT TO BUY" as well as some others.

It is also about the fact that someone blatantly is "hurting that goal".

It is also about the fact that Nathan & I know each other & I would have expected him to realize from my "clearly written post" that by him posting this, he could be influencing people "not" to fill out the survey.

It "IS" about all of us fellow f150onliners wanting to "HELP" eachother out if we can by filling out a simple survey & voting "FOR" something that other f150onliners want, even if it's something we don't "personally like".

That's what this is all about.

I'm sorry if I came across harsh to y'all, but I have more in this than just "an opinion".

BTW Sixpipes, the kit that Blackhawk has is "THE EXACT" kit that I'm talking about here.

SS

Ok, I'm kinda shocked with what is takin place. Hey now, we are all friends here, this doesn't need to be happening. I really like what Sean is goin after, I went and filled out the survery yesterday. I didn't even see this as a Lightning rip off, and I'm a little upset with that bein said. Now I really like the Lightnings, and I find it really cool that I can tell people that I have some buddies with Lightnings. But like what was said before not everybody is out to copy it. Like Buck said, this design was out before the Lightning. I'm sorry, but we all are good friends here, I want it to stay that way. SO EVERYBODY PLEASE GO FILL OUT THAT SURVEY, WE'D REALLY APPRECIATE IT

Well Sean, tryin to help you out buddy

i like the pic but, me as a lightning owner i would not want to see it on the street b/c they are tons of people that is going to see it and think it is a lightning (i know its supercab but still). and then they will smoke it and tell everyone them things are so slow i outrun one in my 5.3 silverado and it is stock. or even worse an R/T yea right that is the only way they will out run a lightning. if you have the motor to back up the looks i am all up for it. but think nathan did not say that much but he is proud to be one of only 4,000 lightning owners and i understand his side of copying a limited edition truck. but i also see how good that supercab looks and i can see ss97's side. i am in between. no harm intended just my point of view.

Ok I am new to the board and havent paid my dues so to speak as the others have, yet I think some of us here are getting way to carried away with some others statements. Nathan made a comment that some may have been offended by but it did not deserve the scalding it received. I personally like the truck and impressed with it. But I can also honestly say I wouldnt have had those add-ons to my truck, and thats just me. I also see no way though that it could be mistaken for a L and if it was then those doing so are just showing their ignorance as well.

It's alright. But I'll stick with my L. Somebody wanna explain why arguing with the R/T and SS guys isn't enough so now we all have to jump the gun on eachother. Seems logical to me that we all agree to disagree..... No need to get defensive or offensive. Nothing wrong with differences of opinions.

OK gang, it's time for a group hug. Come on everyone grab you monitors... (hey, I said "Monitors" so put that thing away!)
SS97FORD, I will go to your link and fill out your survey and I hope you get the kit for your truck. If not, post a message and I'll e-mail you on how to copy your buddy's kit. (If they wont produce it for you).

Unhappy

First of all, I didnt really expect this thread to generate quite the response it did.

SS97: I've liked your truck for some time and think that as it stands its quite a piece of work (in a good way). I trust your good taste on mods

Mumbly:
I have the highest respect for the Rousch designs and know full well the Lightning's roots in the Rousch skunk-works.

Perhaps I should have elaborated more on my original post. Please see the updated post at top. (nothing removed, just added)

Thumbs down

Let's drop this.

Nathan & SS97FORD can take this off of the board and deal with this one on one.

Steve will surely make his presence known if this does not occur.

This is a personal issue between the 2 members listed above, not the members of the Lightning forum, so take it to e-mail

Talking

Please read this whole post, it will totally clear this up & I think everyone will be happy.

Metallic Blue, you are right, but it's past that point.
But hopefully "THIS" will "TOTALLY & FINALLY" clear this up & Nathan would hopefully go fill out the survey as well.

First, the kit nathan put up is & has been in production & is not going away. That kit is not going to stop. The kit I want & what this is all about is the kit for the 97/98 model trucks.

The kit I'm talking about, but is not pictured anywhere "ONLY" consists of "side skirts" from behind the front wheel to the back wheel.
These skirts are not even skirts really. At the end right in front of the rear wheel, they house an exhaust outlet. Kind of looks like "sidepipes" but enclosed except for the exit. That's it !

Nathan, you have "SEEN in Person" this kit. It's on Mumbly's father in laws F150, it's not even close to the picture you put up.

There was also an article in the December 99 issue of "Sport Truck" showing the install of the exhaust kit I want.

The survey is for people to ask for this kit to be put back into reproduction.
I spent over half an hour "on the telephone" talking to the guy at the "only" co. that sells this kit. http://www.aapd.net
And "THIS GUY that I was talking to is Personal Friends" w/the owner of Classic Design Concepts & "HE Told me to get as many people to fill out the survey as possible" ! Even if they don't want it ! I told him all about our site here & he was very happy to have talked to me & filled me in on all this. He has had alot of requests for the kit since it was cancelled & wants to bring it back for his customers.

Now, here's the clincher... The owner of Classic is stuck in the OLD WORLD of Non-Internet use. He doesn't advertise & hasn't except through aapd.net ! He doesn't understand that the majority of potential customers are coming via "THE INTERNET" !
Now does all this make a little more sense.
I never thought I'd have to or needed to go into this much detail on this. I figured alot of people would just go fill out the survey to help another F150 guy(s) out !
I agree that the kit Nathan put up resembles a lightning, but that is not even close to what I'm after !
Now, will everybody smile, shake electronic hands, and go fill out the survey please ???
I really want to get the 97/98 kit & the owner of classic designs told "John Sauers", the guy who owns aapd.net, that if he could show him that alot of people still like or want or even show an interest of some sort, that he will start production of the kit again !
That's it.
I don't want a lightning look alike or intend to try to build one. I just want dual side exit exhausts ! This kit !

Thanks & I hope this puts this to rest...

I really thank those of you who have gone & filled out the survey & asked for the reproduction of the 97/98 exhaust kit.

SS

This is a picture that shows the kit I'm talking about the best. It's hard to see, but look at the black truck on the left, not Mumbly's Roush. It has the exact kit I'm talking about. The exhaust exits on "Both sides", in front of the rear wheels !
THere is "Not even a bumper cover involved" in the kit I want or the survey for it !

Cool

Nathan, I agree with you on people believing that the truck is going to mistaken for the Lightning. This happens to me on a regular basis. As someone said above if they don't know that the Lightning was a regular cab then it doesn't matter what they think.

I truly don't think it will hurt your resale value of your vehicle, if so then I'm the one in the real mess with the Lightning and every aftermarket group out there. As for the Rep of the Lightning, that will only be told by the people driving it.

I also think that your idea of how the survey could hurt sales for the company is something that SS should talk to them about. I don't think that he would want to hurt the company in that way. There are plenty of people that have already done the survey so maybe SS should contact the company and inform him of this. Maybe he should get a survey of his own and see if any one else on the board want the certain pieces or whole package and give them those numbers. We will see on that.

What does "Rousch skunk-works" mean and please spell ROUSH correctly for me. It's kinda like seeing someone spell my name wrong.

Metallic Blue, I agree with issue being between two people and taking it off line, except Nathan put this on the Lightning Thread in a very derogatory way "Ugh. Looks like we've got rice-boy syndrome going on right here on F-150 Online". My father here on the board (BlackHawk) has the side exits on his 97 F150 from this company so I kinda take it as a personal hit.

Mumbly,
I'm guessing that Nathan meant "Skunk Works" with a positive connotation, as in the Lockheed SkunkWorks here in California where the spyplanes are conceived and manufactured; in other words, high tech.
