Mas Position??

Anyone know if it matters which position the mass air sensor is in?? I don't mean in relation to the throttle body or filter, I mean "ROTATION". I've seen them with the sensor rotated to the top, and I've seen them rotated to the side like the stock setup. Any educated info would be apprediated. Thanks, BK

no it does not matter if you rotate it, it is mesuring the incoming air you can rotate it any way you want and the reading it recieves will be the same

Thanks, that's what I thought, just making sure. I always left them in the stock position on my 5.0 race cars I built. ..but they were always on top. The lightning is the only one I've played with that is stock on the side like that, so I wanted to be sure that Ford didn't have some interesting reason for doing it that way.

You might do search in here - but as I recall this question was asked a long time ago - and I recall a "tuner" responding to it and he said you should leave it on the side where Ford put it. I don't recall "why" he thought it made a difference though.

I'll have to check that out. Thanks!

maybe the tuner was saying not to turn the maf in the other direction, meaning the arrow should point
<-------, not ------->. The arrow points the direction of the airflow, the arrow should always point away from the filter.

As I recall the "tuner" was distinctly talking about "rotation" of the MAF - not the direction of airflow.
