most boost ever made on a K.B.

Question, What is the most boost anyone has made on a K.B. in a Lightning;

I just lifted a head; and right before it happend my gage showed almost right at 28.

#10JLP lower, 2.75 kb upper and 0 belt slip, the temp was 43f. Is this possible to make 28 psi?

Double check your gauge for calibration.
My new AutoMeter boost gauge was reading 4-5 pis high at that level.

I could see 30# sometimes.

The new replacement reads mid 20's now.

Bingo!! If you dont have ARP head studs, chances are pretty good thats why you lifted a head. The stock torque to yield bolts just arent strong enough
for near that boost level, they will stretch. The ARP's are a PITA to install though.

I did my ARP's with the motor still in the truck that's why it was such a PITA.
With the motor out,no big deal.

The error was progressive.
The error showed up in vaccum readings too.
With cnc heads & stage 111 cams I had 16-18 inchs vaccum at idle.
New gauge shows 11-13 at idle.

He has the studs. Seriously guys I doubt there is a built motor combo out there that doesnt have the studs.

But are the studs the new ARP 2000?
I've lefted the heads with the old style ARPs at 75 foot #s torque.

LOL! You wouldnt think so, but Ive seen it first hand with a guy here in town.
Built bottom end,fox lake valves, ported heads,10 lb. pulley and freakin' stock head bolts. I tried to tell him,but he wasnt havin' none of it. He hasnt had any problems yet, just a matter of time though.

It doesn't matter if you have studs or the stock bolts. If you have detonation that is bad enough the head will still lift.

How do you tell the difference between the old studs and the 2000's. I have lifted my heads twice with ARP studs. I don't know which ones they are though. I paid $219 for them. I was just told by Dante that he has some special ARP studs that cost $550 but he hasn't had a problem with his hi boost trucks lifting heads ever since he started using them. That is pretty steep for studs, but if it will keep me from pulling the motor a 3rd time I will pay it.
