Sixpipes,
I live in Plano. What is the name and number to the guy who did your powder coating? I might have to see if I can come see your L considering I have a Black one on order and have never seen a L in person.

Well sixpipes, my grill came in today, i am undecided about color, i can't copy your mods, because mine is a "work truck" (ford country, jus look at dem boots, etc..) what do you think of the gloss black clearcoat to match, i can't really get a good look at yours from that angle. besides, as high as gasoline is right now, the oil companies are not spending any money in the good ol US of A right now, and i can't afford all these mods, and to be named as a co-defendant with you in the upcoming "mystic bleyver" powdercoat scandal, at the same time. they don't own the color "black" too, do they?

Cool

TheRealMcCoy -

The shop I used was Custom Powder Coating in Dallas. They are located on Sovereign Row. Let me know when you're around Denton and I'd be more than happy to let you take a look at the truck.

BBQ - I didn't have the guts to go "mystic". The bleyver matched the factory paint almost exactly. Better pictures this weekend.

Well i went out on a limb, and went with "black" powdercoat. He wanted to know, "what color of black?" so , i ordered up the "dark black", and put a few swirl marks on it to match my hood.

Choo-Choo customs is installing a tubular stainless grille on the 4X4 F series and Expeditions. We have a couple on our lot. It bolts on over the stock grille, and is cut out and bent to expose the factory FORD emblem. I think this is one of the nicest grilles I have seen. If I didn't have the chrome push bar I'd be emptying my pockets out for one of these. I don't know who makes them, as I have never seen them before, but I'm sure Choo-Choo customs would be glad to sell one.

Just some info......

Well, i installed the upper and lower billet grills today. they really look great. not the easiest install, but worth the "custom" look. also started the 25pc black on black carbon fiber interior kit, it's flat, but i liked the color, and i was really getting tired of the "XL" interior scheme. went ahead and changed oil and checked everything else. nothing like getting some rest on the weekends.

Finished my lower about an hour ago. I agree, not an easy install. I had to removed the upper grill and lower grill assemblies to get the job done. Pictures tomorrow.

6, I wasn't too comfortable with the rivets alone thru the plastic, and used rivet washers to get a good bite. i didn't have a right angle drill at home, and it was hard to get a good angle, drilling pilot holes for the bottom grill.

I not only used washers, I bought 3/16"-long rivets to make it a little more sturdy. I'd be interested in seeing the polished aluminum on your black "L". A couple of photos "bottomless" and "topless" for those interested.

6, I had them black powdercoated like you. there is a picture of the black "L" w/polished grills in the store here . i couldn't leave them like that. i'd black out the whole truck, if it was legal.

Since you mentioned it, where did you get your carbon fiber kit, and where do all those pieces go?
Thanks
BTW---How much did they cost you? I looking to get a set myself, soon.

I agree with the blackout thing although Roger Lemere's truck looks awsome with the polished aluminum grilles. I had problems getting the hood latch spaced right after the upper grille installation, how about yours?

PFA, bought for 300 from joshua tree www.woodtrim.com, their site shows the kit and placement http://www.woodtrim.com/default.cfm?loc=home
sixpipes, i also had some trouble closing the hood after install. i have a black bugshield and it was hitting the top of the grill housing. i had to bring it forward to be able to close the hood.still have to slam hard to close. i'll work on that today. both grills on saturday, kinda kicked my butt. the same grills on my dodge are attached to the hood and took about an hour

btw, good picks , it lets people know whats involved. could get very expensive if it is sent to a shop for installation.

Here are a couple of pictures after the grille installation yesterday. Weather was just awful today - 75 degrees.
