Question Headers and Heat Buildup

For those of you who have installed headers on your Lightnings, I have a question. Have you experienced any problems with excessive heat in the engine compartment melting things such as plug wires, etc...? I have heard that headers can cause excessive heat problems if there's not enough clearance.

Cool

I don't think it could hurt the spark plug wires on the newer Lightnings

Most people get them ceramic coated or something. It actually reduces heat having headers being that they flow much better and the walls aren't as thick as the manifolds.

I wouldn't worry about it too much!

Andy, the spark plug wires are safe...there aren't any. These engines use a coil on plug design

Thumbs up

Just make sure they are coated, ceramic would be the best. This will keep the heat down and looks great for a long time.
