M1 Filter, M1 Oil, Is what I used on my grand Am.
I have 600 miles on the truck, I will change the oil this weekend, I will use dino oil until 3000, make sure the seals and journals are nice and broke in, and then switch to M1 Synth.

Question

Does this cause any problems with the warranty? I've heard that Ford soesn't recommend syn oil.

No problem, Gilbert, as long as the oil you use is API certified. Ford doesn't recommend synthetics because Ford doesn't make any money off them, although I read somewhere that Ford motor oil is blended with synthetic. Not recommending is different than prohibiting. I plan to switch to Castrol Syntec after my L. is broken in.

I switched to Mobil 1 oil and filter at 6500 miles and plan to stay with syn fluids for the duration.

I've been using mobil 1 5w-50w but am going to use mobil 1 0w-30w. I thought that I needed to use a thicker oil because of heat build up but I just read that newer oils don't break down like old oils used to. In the test switching from a 10w-50w to a 0w-30w gave 10 Horsepower.

Oops, didn't realize this is the Lightning section. You guys need the best oil you can get.

Look at the signature, with the Amsoil super-duty filter.
