Dam.......you guys are lucky

I live in Cali and as you know, we got tons of BS laws
I got one speeding ticket going only over 5 mpgh over the speed limit
and paying $1,700 for my insurance for my L only
most insurance use your VIN# to ID what type of vehicle you have

My first recommendation is - Tell them it is a Lightning (they should know due to the VIN, but believe me it is in your best interests). I have a friend who is an insurance adjuster and I am not saying that your insurance company is one of "those", but there are insurance companies that look for loop holes in payouts. It will most likely not cost you a dime extra, but really if you total the L today there is a difference in "value" or worth between the standard F 150 (with a V8) and a L of the same year. Don't let someone elses lack of knowledge (just because she didn't ask you specifically) cost you in the long run.

Second, I am 39, safe driver rating, no accidents (reported) in the past five years and I pay $419 every six, a mill liability, $250 collision and $0 ded on comp. (that is adding married status, not married, but engaged and my broker knows it) without the married my rates were $486 every six. This does include multiple car discount, too. I am with Alstate - and I really don't give a rats you know what about the cheapest rate I care more about how I am treated when I really need the insurance company and AlState has been amazing for me in the past.

Better to have it all on the table in my opinion!

You are so right Dan

I used to work for an insurance company and this is one of the biggest issue people has when they are trying to pay least for what they are being covered. Its up to the buyer to make sure your insurance got the right vehicle. Most insurance nowadays even take a picture of your vehicle before writing the policy up.

It will be covered as a f150 for 18,500 dollars bottom line... Which is good for me becuase it is def not worth that much.... I prob will take the insurance off in the winter next year to save even more money.. Since I paid for it cash I think I will be able to do that.. there is no loan out so the bank is not the leanholder.

The states is lucky. I'd have to pay $7000 for each of my vehicles just because of my age.

anand is failing to tell us that his first vehicle is an F-150 and his second vehicle is a new Shelby proto-type.

Plus when you take the 25% rate conversion you are really only talking about $5250 annunally in U.S. dollars

J/k anand - I say shop around what ever country you live in!

I love the way Geico trolls for "Get a better insurance rate"
on the internet, and when you click there, they DO show
a really low rate ($455) as opposed to the 645 / year I pay
now.

The thing is that quote is for SIX MONTHS of insurance. So if
you didn't READ the skinny print and clicked on it, you would be
screwed in 6 months when you get the bill for the second half
of the year.

Isn't that deceptive marketing, and against the law somewhere?

Actually I paid exactly $1030.40 for six months and not $1200 - it says my next bill due will be $999.90 so it looks like I dropped about $30....lol...that's a first, normally it always gets raised (with my last insurance company). BTW, I'm with Geico now, my insurance card clearly says SVTLTNG or something to that effect (they went by VIN) EDIT: It says "2003 FORD F150 SVTLT". I just called Allstate today for the hell of it and they quoted me $1500/six months for only the Lightning - Geico is $500 less ($1000 a year) for both, my L and my beater ('76 old junker, lol). Still can't understand how you guys get away with only $500...

I'm 22 and pay 1400/yr full coverage... I'm sure that's gonna go up a little this year though..
^^Same state I live in, same color L and everything, and I'm older. How you guys (and girls) do it, I dont know, lol.... I'd kill for only 1400/yr.

Wait a minute... I'm looking at my policy online and it says my premium vehicle total for the L is: "Vehicle Total: $581.40" and my 76 beater: "Vehicle Total: $402.50". That isn't how they said it worked when I called them - they said when I signed up my old beater only added $200 on top of my L's insurance. Now I'm confused...lol So going buy this, the L alone costs $1162.80/yr?? I'm super tired from work today, lol, think I'll sleep on this, heh.

Yeah but I haven't gotten my bill yet for this year... I'm kind of afraid to see it now.
Hopefully it didn't go up too much. :o

I am 32 w/ a clean driving record, live in Texas, and I've been with Allstate since 1999. I pay roughly $75mo. for the Lightning:

100/300/100 liability
$2500 PIP
50/100/50 uninsured
$500 collision
$100 comp
towing up to $80 per use
rental up to $25 day

However I also have another vehicle (2005 Honda Pilot w/ same coverages) and my home owners insurance is thru Allstate as well.

First of all I'm 53. I have every conceivable discount. No accidents and no tickets.I paid alot when I was young also. At least it seemed like alot at the time.
