Superchips?????
I am going to purchase a superchip. I have given up trying to locate Sal so I am going to purchase from another company.
I have noticed a big difference in pricing. Performance Products sells a chip for $225.00. At www.superchips.com they are sold for $495 with a pulley. At Downeys the switch chip is $495.
WHAT TO DO??????
Is the Performance chip a good product??
What would you suggest?

If your not going to get a (good $$$) dyno tuned chip get a Sal/PSP ( http://members.aol.com/NLOCsvt/chips.html ) or maybe a superchip.
Given the choice I would opt for the Sal/PSP, on the merit that Sal (although mellow-dramatic) really feels that he does the best job, and seems like he will try to do the best job. Additionally his operation is smaller and could be destroyed by putting out Crap, so he will try hard not to.
Just my .000002$

I am happy with my Superchip. Talk to Mike Troyer at Performance Products or go to the vendors forum. Superchips is a nationally recognized brand name and I think that is one reason the service guys at Bankston weren't concerned about my truck modifications. Sal evidently makes a good product as well, but the flip-chip from Superchips is readily available.

Yep, I concur with sixpipes. Find Mike Troyer on the board here. I'm very pleased with my Superchip...granted, I don't enough mods to really warrant a one-off programming burn, though.
Still 362rwhp/444rwtq with just the chip at 1500 miles on the clock.
I installed the chip with 800 miles on the motor and it made a drastic difference. Now I'm at 5500 miles and still very pleased with my purchase.

The one at Superchips is for a Generation I Lightning w/underdrive pulley for accessories. The one for Gen II L's is not listed there and is a flipchip. Call Troyer for a price. The one you mention from Sal is also for Gen I, the Gen II is a flipchip style also for $355. For him It shouldn't take too long for the chip as most of the work(testing) is done and all he has to do is burn the chip. I'd just print the form and send him the money for fastest response if it was me. You'll get the chip or your money, he has too much invested to stiff ya'.

Superchips is dyno'ing my 2000 L this Thursday 4/27/2000 in Longwood Florida for the development of the 2000 flipchip.
My L is scheduled to be on the dyno all day. Will post the dyno results Thursday night under a new topic.

You can't go wrong with the Superchip and dealing with Mike Troyer. I can't imagine getting more performance from a chip than my L achieves with the Superchip. I am very pleased.
