Red face Mr Red Light

After reading the post about going in reverse I don't feel so bad about this. If I make the finals I seem to "Leave To Early" or If I am up againt some really fast like 8 sec, I "Leave To Early". Anyone got a pill for this? tried Viagra but it just kept my mind off the lights all together .

So, the diagnosis is "Premature Acceleration"?

Cool

It is a well known fact that "premature acceleration" is like linked to the kind of blower you have or something. A "roots" blower is really bad about this. The real problem in drag racing is your done before you get started. This is not very satisfying to your opponent (opponent is like better than saying "drag partner") either. I've never really gotten use to the crowd pointing and laughing. I'm usually never guilty of "premature acceleration" except for like one time a night. Just remember, this experience will not affect your elapsed time. And isn't that really the way it should be.......

or something?

1BADTK,

Just stare at the lower yellow light on the tree. Don't look at, or think about, any of the other lights. When the bottom yellow comes on, hit it.

If you watch the whole tree, you can get trigger happy, and launch too soon.

For me to get a good light I have to hit it during the second yellow, about half way in the bulb (each bulb is .500 second at most tracks some use .400 trees). Several years ago (BTW this is NOT recomended) I would find a easy spot to be consistenly to quick on the tree (red light) and add the apropriate amount of beer too slow me down to a killer bulb. At one track they used to call me Mr. Five Foot Trophy. Seriously though if you want to win, you have to be real close to a red light. .530 (with .500 being perfect) or better and you have a good chance. You must also pay close atention to break outs and dialing in numbers you can't run. Typicaly I would dial in 2 tenths slower than what I could run (sandbaging, if something goes wrong I still have a chance of running the number), at the end of the track I should be easily ahead, and need to slow down to avoid a breakout, The trick is to just barely beat your opponent thru the lights, at the speeds we run with these trucks every second we go about 14.2 feet. I can normaly get a "finnish first by .030" thats about a four foot lead. If I have to stay in it, I either had a slow run (stay in it and hope for the best),a bad bulb, or the other guy is breaking out (brake hard at the last second and try forcing the other guy to breakout).
