Is a Dodge Ram Fast

Ok..there is a guy at work has a standard cab short bed 2wd hemi ram. He says that he runs a 14.2 in the quarter mile. Now look at this, his truck is bone bone bone stock except for a hypertech programmer and quote (on level 5) he runs a 14.2 in the quarter. I mean factory exhaust, intake, wheels, tires everything on this truck is stock. Now I didn't ask for his timeslip to prove it but I am starting to get tired of him talking about how fast his truck is!! I tried getting him to lay down 500 and we would run them but he woudln't do it. My truck as well is bone stock (CAI on it's way). What do you all think? BS or no BS?

Well, if he did run 14.2, I would say he has the right to claim his truck is fast....atleast for what it is. I mean thats moving considering L's run mid 13's stock, SRT-10's run anywhere from high 12's to mid 14's stock depending on the driver. If he is just proud of the truck thats one thing, but if he's doggin' the L or talkin' smack, I would tell him to shut up until he produces a time slip or lines up against you....and you will have no problem spanking him even if he does run 14.2's!!!!

Yes the hemi's are fast but a stock 5.7 in a 2wd is not faster than a lightning, depending on elevation of the drag strip, time of day ect a 2wd hemi will have no problems doing a 15 sec run, which is still dam fast for a pick up but not faster than a lightning..

I test drove a 2500 ram quad cab with a six speed with the hemi and it felt quicker in 0 to 60 than my 04 F-150 with the 5.4.

You could take him stock vs. stock any day, and twice on Sunday.

My truck is basically stock and I have raced several hemi's and killed them with no problem. I gave my buddy a truck length head start and still ran him down easily. He has a intake, exhaust, and a chip.

I don't think he could go 14.2, but maybe that's what the box of the programmer told him. Either way, if he thinks his truck is fast, just imagine what he would think if he rode in your truck!

Lets put it this way, 345hp and 5200+ lbs.= A LOT slower than 380hp and 4700-4900 lbs.

He'd be lucky to keep up with a Silverado SS and a stock L will KILL the SS.

I got to admit is was fun whooping Hemi Butt last night
BUT WAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAY TOO EASY, chit I've had GT's put up a better fight

I'm crusing the Ave all of a sudden I see the fugly grill coming up behind me,
he pulls right next to me and guns it, I immediately started laughing saying to myself this MF has no idea who he's messing with. So I throw him the Thumbs Up and I proceed to make sure we have plenty of room before I make my move. The oppurtunity comes up, I pull up next to him, then manually downshift from OD to 3rd to 2nd, as soon as he hits it, I do the Jump out the MF seat and stomp it through the floor board trick, I'm screaming 20+ lbs of boost and like 55K RPM, needless to say I left him bout a 1/4 mile behind as I went through a gear or two. Then I waited and waited and waited, finally a few miles later we get an absolute PERFECT oppurtunity again, I down shift back down and wait for him. HE WOULD NOT PULL UP NEXT TO ME NO MATTER HOW SLOW I WENT.......

*****!!!!

However when I get my SRT Jeep, I will be whooping all you Stock L's.
Catch you on the Ave my Brothers.....

I agree. My brother has one. In stone stock form, it will do what the magazines say. thats about 15.2-15.4. Giving him the benefit of an awesome tuned program and sticky tires, I'd say a full second off that time is obsurd. A more believable time would be a 14.8 at best (if that). Don't get me wrong, I happen to think the truck is real nice and pulls hard at midrange on up, but so many times I've observed guys knocking off 3 -4 tenths off their real time at the water cooler. I guess they think its not lieing as long as they keep it within the full second!
