Question REMOVING VACUUM LINE TO BLOWER WILL MAKE TRUCK FASTER?

I've been told removing the vacuum line to the blower will allow the blower to make boost all the time and therefore will run faster at the strip. Is this the vacuum line that goes to the black diaphram on the DS of the engine at the top rear?

Thumbs up

noelvm, if your not having a blower shut off problem then you don't need to unhook the vacume line. if you are then yep unhook and plug it thats what i do. the only reason it makes the truck run fast is because no more blower turn off. other than that i don't think it maks it any faster... take care......

Well, everyone has a different opinion on this one, but here's the deal.. That is a by-pass valve. During conditions of vacuum (no load) the valve opens and allows air to by-pass the blower case. When the truck is under load (no vacuum or boost) the valve closes and allows the blower to build boost. If you remove the vacuum line from the by-pass, air will not be allowed to by-pass the blower case. This does not allow you to make any more power. It actually is bad for performance, because when the valve SHOULD be open (idle, cruise) you will be building up a ton of heat. If anyone is familiar with Kenne Bell blowers, compare how hot a 1500 with no by pass runs compared to a 2200 with a bypass, and you know how hot these things can get with no by-pass.

I agree with Sal you should not defeat the by-pass.In the case of Drag Racing if you were using that BLUE chip you may have been seeing boost dump and you needed a fix. This did/does work. Not a way to get more power just a way to harness what you had.

Keep me informed, please. I would like to do this also, poss. on Thurs. It shouldn't take to much to do as long as you know which one to go to.
