What a 10 dollar spring can do to a motor:

Here is my old block partially torn down. You can clearly see the havoc it did on the head and piston. The block can be reused, but needs to be bored .010 more over. I would need a new set of pistons and rings and the head might be able to be repaired. It is just amazing what a $10 spring can do to a $10,000 motor. I was very proud of this motor, too, for all the power it put out. 620, street tune(14 psi boost, 12 degrees timing)670 on just boost, 700/860 with 50 shot of nitrous, 836 on turbo. Well, I have something else in the works and I am thinking about rebuilding a stroker motor out of this block, too.

Here is the pics:

Block damage:

One thing I noticed is how well the head gaskets held up. No sign of blow out what so ever. Well, stay tuned for the new motor.

Heres a pic of what happened to my motor that had a set of Crower valve springs with about 200 miles on them. Only 1 spring broke but the others werent far away from breaking. Sheared 2 lifters off and ruined the block too. We tried to bore 30 over but the knicks in the cylinders wouldnt come out.

Well thats put a spanner in the works big time.
Oh well built motor next time and forget the cheapo springs.

It's not so much the £££ or $$$ depending which side of the pond your are.
It's being without your truck and swapping all those bits and piecies, wires and hoses over when you install the new motor.

Been there and **** that is a real pita.

FYI, nobody makes a 120lb spring (at least not that I am aware of.) JDM is shimming 95lb Manley springs to get them to 120lb if that's what you are referring to.
