Lightbulb ANYONE INSTALL A TACHOMETER?

I need to know if anyone has sucessfully installed an aftermarket tachometer in their L.
I have tried Ford Motorsports, SVT, Holcolm Motorsports and Autometer ( which makes the guages for FMS) with no luck!!
No one can tell me where to pick up the tach lead on a Coil on Plug Igntion. Nor if it is the same signal as a std. tach.
Any help???
Thanks in advance.

Spoke to Autometer at the World Ford Challenge this year concerning this. I was told that would be releasing a signal amplifier some time soon....

This is an excellent idea. I have found launch RPM to be critical in obtaining your best time and the poor calibration of the factory tach makes this impossible. I would be interested also.

Spiro and noelum thanks fr the replies.
The reason I wanted to install an aftermarket tachometer is two-fold:
1) I can't see the factory tach to power-brake the correct rpm's and watch the Christmas tree descend, for proper launch times, to remain consistant.
2) I don't know how accurate factory tach maybe and if I ever get the trans shifting tightly enough I may want to shift it manually a little higher in each gear (aka: shift light)

Congrats SPIRO on your best et last night 12.75 is FANTASTIC!!!!!!

Seems to me, what we need is an adjustable idle speed control **** with an on/off switch. We're talking about launch RPM right. For most of us the ideal launch RPM is somewhere betwee 800 and 1400 RPM. If you had a dial reostat that could bump up your idle RPM and also an on/off switch, then you could dial up your launch RPM, turn the switch off, stage to the second lite, brake, turn switch on and then launch. This would relieve having to look at the tach and therefore you could concentrate on the lite. Does anyone make something like this that is simple and not really full electronic bracket stuff?
