Question amp turn on wire ????

I am adding an amp in my truck to the factory radio and was wondering does anyone know what color if the factory harness that you would use for the remote turn on wire (Blue).... I can get the amp to turn on if I put in to the power of the main cable... Help if you can...

cobra99: Hey man.... you might run into a little bit of a problem here. You can "try" and test points on the radio wiring harness for voltage only when the radio is turned on... but there might not be one. Working with stock head units is a pain. I'd go ahead and pull the head unit, and take a good look with a voltmeter. If you can't find one that gives you a good 12V while the radio is on, then look for wires that run out of the headunit... to the harness, but don't connect to anything. If I remember right *most* Ford head units have an un used power antenna wire. This feeds 12V to a relay when the radio is turned on. I *believe* you should have one of these. The next best thing is to run your turn-on from an ignition switched source. As long as the RCAs are well insulated.... the amp should sit there quietly, and do nothing. Hope this helped at all LOL.

ok... sorry. Just had a lapse. The wire you *should* be looking for is either solid blue (as you said) or blue with a white stripe. Just make sure you test before you hook it up.

THat wire is not it. What are the two connection blocks used for the hook into the radio. I know the one is for the speakers and power, Memory and ground. What is the second block for that you don't hook up... Jason. I tried that one its not it.... Have you done one of these?

I just used a piece of extra speaker wire, bought a small switch, jumped from the main to the remote switch, put the other switch on, and called it good. I made sure everything was free of accidental electrical discharge.
