You can tell right off the bat alot of thought went into this kit! the test conditions were not that good at all. the shop temps were 88*+.We did the same pulley combo. 1st on the 2.3 a 9.5 lower & 2.7 upper which made 18# of boost. the timing was 19*.. we made 582 rwhp 666.7 rwt!.. we made a total of 8 runs tonight but i won't go thru each run tonight. We then put the 2.6KB on with the same pullies 9.5 lower & 2.7 upper..The Boost soard to 22#!.and the Power increased tremendously! 652.3 rwhp 763.8 rwt!..thats a 70 hp! Gain and just under 100 ft.#'s of Torque!..We'll be doing a few more runs tommorow! we will be putting the 10" Lower on to achieve 25# of boost! we'll be installing our resiviour and be putting ice in it..maybe 700 rwhp! and over 800 rwt! might just happen with NO JUICE!..!..Our initial thoughts on this Blower is just down right Amazing! We @ JLP Would like to publicly Thank Jim @ Kenne Bell for allowing JLP to have a part in testing this MONSTER!..Thanx JL
Wow that is some great numbers, but I'm somewhat confused that a 2.6 liter supercharger, at 21,815rpm only has 22lb's of boost. This is the same as the misquoted 2.3 liter radial entry compressor. When we used our Lysholm 2.3 liter compressor, we flowed typically 4-6lbs of boost more at the same rpm as Bell's "2.3 liter". Now the KB 2.6 liter makes similar boost levels. Our new W140ax is close to a 2.5 liter compressor and I have, outside today, a 2001 Lightning that makes 22lbs of boost at 5200rpm with a 9.5" lower and 3.0" upper. So if that blower really is a 2.6 liter, then it has horrible VE which I highly doubt. I think it's flowing much closer to a 2.4 liter.

I'm not trying to start an argument, just want to keep some honesty in the advertised compressor sizes, the compressor is without a question superior to their previous design and should make for some great power combos.

Thanks,
Dustin Whipple

Even "if" the Whipple 2.3 performs as well as KB's 2.6 I'd still use the 2.6 for the ease of maintanance.

Easy of maintenance ?? What would be the huge difference of maintenance on those 2 blowers ??

I'm not trying to start anything, but my JDM/KB combo made 680RWHP@19* timing only 18psi over 2 yrs ago....I'm alittle disappointed in the numbers 741RWHP on a 50 shot 14* timing....must be the difference in the engines and tuning

was these tests of the 2.3 vs 2.6 compared with the 2.3 with your upper intake? if why? also which blower will be better suited for my road race/auto-x/street truck? if i was to get the 2.3 i would be using your upper intake also. 2500+600 intake still less than the 2.6 + your new intake for it. thanks JL.

Im sure if you took a Whippled truck and stripped it down to 3800 pounds it would run a 9.

All that tells me is your 2001 Lightning has a very restrictive heads/cams, if any porting has been done at all.
My stock 2000L with a 2.2L KB, 9.5" lower and a 2.75" upper made 23#s boost.

I currently run a 11" lower and a 2.75" upper on a Dante built motor.
Guess what... 23# of boost but with 160 more hp.

LOL, probably a hell of a lot more than Ken @KB

Nice to see KB coming out with something different. But from all the lies that Ken @KB told me, I've got not much faith in KB Especially when Ken told me personally that he see's every KB returned for warranty, and he has seen none
I personally know 5 that have returned their KB's, 3 more than once and 1 more than twice
I just hope the new KB doesn't have all the "teething" problems that KB had when they first came out.

As we all know dynos numbers don't mean much, its the ET's that are the real world test. Rumor has it that, the new KB has made several passes.
I know myself and others are interested in the #'s
