swelling on the sidewall

swelling on the sidewall
Hi all,
I just noticed on one of the Goodyears that the sidewall looks swollen. It's like if somebody took a tire iron, smacked the sidewall and now that section has swelled up. Maybe this is a blister? Can I still drive the L or should I put the spare on and have this taken care of right away? Would this be covered under warranty?
Thanks
Andy

Hey you can kiss the warranty thing goodbye, unless your name is WhiteLightningSVTGirl (I know I misspelled that), she was really good at things like that. It depends on how swelled up it is, and better hope your wallet is swelled up to buy yourself a nice new tire!
Hey, why don't you post a picture of it? While you are at it, I am dying to see your 60', 1/8 mile, and techniques you have at the track! I am jealous of your time!

I had that happen with my Tbird SC a few years back and they took care of it after much whinning. You have to go to Goodyear. As long as the tire doesn't show any abuse. Like hitting pot holes or curbs.

I would run it by the dealership to see what they think about the tire.
Hey Andy great times. I was wondering if you used a drag radial for those times? What were the weather conditions? dont't take this the wrong way, I believe your times. Lightning Freak was running that good stock also. I think it's time to throw a chip in it .

Thanks all for the suggestions.
Spiro,
I made my runs at Englishtown NJ. The runs were made on the stock Goodyears. It was my first time at E-town with the L. I wanted to see what numbers we'll get. The numbers suprised me and my friends. He taped the run so if you wanted to see the mpeg I'll send it to you.
I'd scan the slip but I don't have a scanner.

I'll start off with a PSP filter kit first but I'm hoping Sal will catch up with his orders so I can place mine. I've been waiting since April to place a order.
Sal, let me know soon when you catch up with your kits. :-)

Andy,
I do believe your times. I have seen stock L's running that fast. It does explain alot being at E-town(my old hometown track),one of the best tracks in the country. If I were you, I would wait for the PSP air-kit, the quality is incredible. I think we will have to have a get together for all the NJ,NY,DE,MD L's at E-town this fall.I will be there for Fords At Englishtown, not sure If I will be running the L or not.It depends on what stangs Empty Pockets Racing has there. But the L will be there.

Tires have an inner liner that is supposed to prevent air from leaking out thru the fairly porous outer portion of the tire.
If/when that liner develops a leak, the air can literally separate the outer part of the tire from the tire cord. If this is the case, you can easily push on that blemish and feel the tire cord.
The tire manufacturer will deny warranty if, by internal inspection, evidence of running flat or low (a ridge is worn around the inside -- and there are usually some rubber 'marbles' in sizes ranging from 1/8" to 5/8" in diameter found inside the tire.
Otherwise -- and especially if your tires do not have evidence of being 'curbed' -- you can expect a prorated replacement tire at the very least.
You may wish to negotiate the replacement of the entire set -- if you have a wife or children that are important to you.
Continuing to drive on that tire will result in a flat -- since the bubble will continue to grow at a surprizing rate when it decides to continue growing.
