I thought the same thing, told my wife and she said "no way not in California", but it was at the pump at the 76 in San Marino. Wonder how we can find out for sure...

It may be like Michigan, where "The Evil Gas" - Leaded Race gas is at the pump, but it has such a big nozzle you can pump it in the tank.

Since you are out that way, stop by and ask if it really is 100 and if so, are there any other stations that have it.

Looking forward to your info.

That could be true, I will have to swing by there again to check it out. I was in a hurry so I didn't catch the price either, but I'm sure they've taxed the hell out of it...

Here in new jersey we can buy 100 octane Sunoco gt unleaded fuel, but the price is 2.99 a gallon. so I mix it with 94 ultra.

So is there a formula for getting a higher octane by mixing fuels, in other words will 10 gallons of 92 octane and 10 gallons of 100 octane yield 96 octane ((92+100)/2)? Or is there more to it than that? Just curious.

DB there is a formula for mixing octanes and one of the magazines super ford or muscle mustangs ran a story recently about that mixing formula for high ocatane fuels.

I'm in San Jose and we also have a 76 station which sells 100 octane at the pump. It is $3.79 per gallon. I've used it many times and it works great.

Thanks 95rcobra I will have to look at the recent mags for that formula.

FORDSALES: I will stop by and ask about the availability down in Orange County and if it's really 100 octane.

Last year, I believe, 76 announced that 100 octane would be available at selected stations of theirs across the country. Its unleaded and should work great. Sunoco 104 unleaded is 5.00 a gallon here and comes out of a 55 gas drum at the race shop Bumberas here in Houston.

Yes, Virginia, there is a Santa Clause.

While stopping for a red light, I noticed a 76 tanker dropping a load of gas at a station. I also noticed that the driver, after seeing me, walked to the front of his truck and was waiting for me to drive by. I pulled in.

The driver, Milt, came up to me and was happy to see the L. He owns a 1993 L with a lot of mods. I asked him if there was a 100 octane in California. He answered Yes and he often puts it into his truck. He also mentioned that the 100 is the minimum that it has to be and more than likely it was 101-103. He said he knows of stations in L.A., Fullerton, Yorba Linda, San Diego that have it. He also mentioned that there are others but he didn’t know. The cost per gallon, I was told is around $4.00 per.
