What Kind Of Perfrormance Increase Should I Expect From 4.10 Gears?

The advantage of FMS gears, if you can find them, is that they are cheaper. The disadvantage of FMS gears is that they are cheaper. The shop that installed my Superior gears said that they are, in fact, superior. The disadvantage is that in addition to the initial expense, there are no shim kits available for non FMS gears, so the install needs to be done by a full service machine shop that can fabricate the necessary parts. Fortunately we have such a shop here in Ventura, and I am glad I went with the Superior gears instead of the FMS.

Gear whine is not a problem of the gear maker, but the person who set's up the gear pattern.
If you ask for a performance set up YOU WILL HAVE gear noise.
If you have no noise at all, this type of set up is street use.
All you need to do is talk with a TRUE gear head ( Currie, Strange,ect...)

I had a 93 L and I tell you it came out of the hole....It hooked up and left....stock.
I never went to thre track...4:10 gears are something I have been thinking on. I"m not really concerned about mileage..I only get 13 mpg on average now....I'm at 410Hp and 500 Foot pounds @ the wheels on a Dyno Jet. Sure witout power braking and the torque reduction cut off I leave a big smear of rubber thru 1st and most of 2nd.
I have CalTracks...I run them a little loose on the street.
If you think driving in wet conditions is tricky with 3:55's or even 3:73's,I have had both...you should try 4:10's....
I would like to know how Top End is affected..I know I'll get there sooner on 4:10's..I just wanna know how it will clip my MPH at redline in 5th....
I say put them in...and use the go pedal to modulate the wheel spin....

General consensus: 4:10's are too much for gen 2's, 3:73 is pretty much the perfect gear.
