Talking 1BADFRD PICKS ON A NEW VETTE

OK, so it's Friday nite at LSR. The traffic is lite probably because Sunday is car club day. We're running mostly each other. All of a sudden this brand new vette shows up and Alex sees it. His mouth waters. I gotta run that vette, he says and he follows him to the staging lanes. Well they don't even out so Alex goes to the starter and says I want to run that vette back there. The starters says, Does he know about it? Alex lies, sureeee. So the starter stops the 2 front cars and points at the vette to go around and come to the front. I bet this kid didn't even have 2000 miles on his new toy.

We'll, we all get out of our trucks and go forward to watch. Alex pulls his out of the hole so bad it's a joke, but the vette never closes the distance. Alex comes back with this big grin from ear to ear. The kid in the vette hasn't got a clue. The people in the stands next to us are saying, "did you see that truck beat that new vette?????
Here kitty, kitty, kitty. Next Alex will be handing out candy bars.

Actually we were all laughing too hard, but Alex said he ran (the vette) 8.9(1/8). I'm sure he'll update when he sees this.

Hey Terry, sorry about not contacting you when we went to HRP. Did not even think about it until we were there. Will definately give you a hollar the next time we go.
LSR is LoneStar Raceway on the west side of Sealy (about 7 miles) on I-10. www.lonestarraceway.com

Hey Noel-
I don't remember the times from their first race, but the second race was Alex's 8.64 to the Vette's 8.91. That was funny stuff.

Thanks for the post Noel!

The funniest thing was the kid couldn't believe he got beat the first time, so he asked to run me again just to see a repeat performance. Afterwards, I pulled up to where he parked and all his friends ran over to look at my truck instead of his Vette! Duck is correct, that new Vette ran low 8.9's in the 1/8th both times. I was running in the mid 8.6's. Even though most of us redlighted (good job Duck for not joining us and coming in 3rd!) running that Vette sure made my night!

If the vette ran only an 8.9 than something is wrong. It would appear that he could not drive or was spinning that bad. His time would calculates to a 13.88 in the quarter and i know they are faster than that. Good run Alex.

I got a question concerning the new C5 vetts. I know a guy who has a 99 C5 convertible with a auto trans. Does anyone know what this convertible with auto trans should run in the quarter? Will a new L take him?? HANKFAN

Fast Dak-

Let me just say that the weather was plain crap and everyone was running slow. Hot and high humidity. I think that time was right for the Vette as I saw a new ram air run 9.14 1/8th times which also seemed slow. I did not hear the Vette spin, but the kid was definetly not an experienced driver.

Hankfan-

A convertible should be a little slower than the coupe because of the extra weight. I think to take a C5 Vette you will probably need at least chip, filter, gears. You can not do it stock as I have previously tried unsuccessfully.

Hankfan-if the vette is an automatic with no mods it should run in the mid to high 13's, modded I have seen them run as low as low 11's-(stroked motor, 408 CI). I hope to be in the high 11's with my new cam and heads on F1 run flats.
