Question 4.10's less performance?

I've recently installed 4.10's and I think I'm switching back to the 3.55's. I could almost swear I lost take off power which should be impossible.
My shop suggested that I may have already reached the limit of what my L can do, comments?

Moses

I have more gear than you and it made the truck alot slower due to traction limitations with the stock tires. On street tires you may be slower. Send your chip back to SHM and have him take some timing out at WOT below 3200rpm..

Thumbs up

Moses- Dan here,
Have you postd before and after times in the 1/4.
I had both the 3.55s turned 13.91 @98.16 mph.on F1s.
Swithced to 4.10s turned 14.1 @ 96mph. Reason being the computer was compensating for 3.55 gears and short shifting the trans. But launch was stronger. Ordered PSP 4-way chip compensated for 4.10s went 13.39 @102?? on F1s. Gp fiqure. I'd never get rid of mine. Just for the shere acceleration of them. IMHO
I'd say get your chip recalibrated for the 4.10s. If you still want to get rid of them, you could probably auction them off, as as many people have contacted me for gears and posted looking for same.
Hope this helps!!

If you want the right performance, calibate your computer like our VIDEOMAN says...

Cool

Videoman tells it like it is. Until your chip is compensated for the 4.10s you will lose power because it is reading drive shaft speed and shifting way too early. Once you are properly calibrated you will never dream of going back to the 3.55s.

I had better times by 3/10ths with 4.10's. Must get your chip re-calibrated. Installing Pro Torque Convertor (2400 stall) this weekend, and new transmission pan (thank you Spiro). Will let you guys know how it works out.

Jigawatt...yes they are F.M.S. came with shims and the Pinion Nut. They also claimed that they (Downs)had them hardened beyond FMS. They were expensive, but the only available gears I could find at the time. Quiet, no problems.

I heard that the 4.10 gears and the small blower pulley is not a good idea. Some have lost performance with this combo because the blower seems to be maxed out at higher rpms with the low gears. I'm not an expert, just passing on info. HTH

Here's what we decided had to be done, see if it works.
Ok, so got the SHM MAF, chip, pulley, and 4.10's. This application seems maxed out.
Going to change the headers and exhaust, and maybe TB (even though the TB might be pushing it on that end). Then re-tuning the chip for all the modifications (if needed).
Should theoretically be pushing the 400+HP marker.
The way we got it figured, with the 4.10's and the amount of HP, should be able to get this monster into the 12's. Time will tell.
Cheers.
