Post Extended Warranty for Lighting

I was wondering about your alls opinion on the extended warranty, is it worth ? how many
people signed up for it? the cost?

My dealer is offering me 6 Years/100000 miles
Bumper to Bumper at $1395.00 it sounds very good but would like as many opinions as possible before I bite.

Thanks,
Terry

Cool

I got 6 yrs 150k km for Can$ 1200. Check to make sure that you get the one from FORD, not some no-name insurance company.

I purchased the FORD Premium Care (Bumper to Bumper) for $750.00. This is for 6 years or 60K miles with a $50.00 deductible. I thought the purchase was worth the peace of mind that I will have for the additional 3 years after the basic warranty has ended.

Question

Shule
Some questions if you do not mind...

Do you have a pic of your A.R.E. cover ?
I would like to know if it sits on top of, and cover the plastic bed-caps or did you remove them ?

Also, how well is it made, does it follow the bed rail contour accurately ? How heavy is it ?

Black Lightning,

The lid fits on top of the bed-caps and completely covers the caps. Concerning the overall quality I believe it is excellent. The lid's shape flows well with the body style. No drilling, heavy duty clamps, excellent paint job, superb fit in finish & a Lifetime warranty (lid & paint). The weight is probably between 70 - 100 pounds. I would recommend the A.R.E. without hesitation, if you're looking for a hard cover.

Unfortunately I don’t have a picture of my A.R.E. cover. If you’re ever in the Richmond, VA area I would be glad to show it to you.

I'm close to buying the lid from A.R.E. I've looked at them and think they are the way to go for about $675. I just had the black Rhino done and it looks excellent. Try this website for more A.R.E. info and pictures:

Thanks folks, I was leaning towards the SnugLid at first, but after seeing both on a FORD vehicle the quality impressed me to the point that I will now order the A.R.E.

Extended warranties are like most other items, the price is negotiable. Shop other dealers, doesn't have to be Ford, can be Lincoln/Mercury, it is the same warranty.
I got a 6 year/75,000 mile warranty on a Lincoln for $800 while the selling dealer was quoting $1150.

It is also possible to do "group buys", just took part in one for a motorcycle. A Honda Dealer in TX was willing to sell extended 6 year warranties for about 2/3's of what most wanted, provided we came up with 15 qualified bikes for the deal.

You have a lot of interesting things to say

First: yes, warranties are negotiable but at the price that I was approved to set up on the web which is $75.00 over what a dealership has to pay Ford and that $75.00 isn't profit. Part of it (about $20.00) will go to the salesman that takes the order, a few more dollars will then pay the office staff that has to deal with the paper-work and get it off to Ford, then there's the person who loads the info, into the computer and gets it off to Ford which leaves nothing as PROFIT. You might get 50 people to buy a warranty but you won't get it cheaper than what is up on the web.

Once again, you are comparing what you paid for a Lincoln vs. a Lightning. Warranty costs are different almost on all vehicles. You can't compare the price you got on a Lincoln (and even on a motorcycle) to the price that one would pay on a Lightning. Do you know that the Lightning has a $150.00 surcharge by Ford because of the Supercharger. I don't think the Lincoln has that charge.

Yes, there are warranties other than Ford's that might even save you %50-$100.00. With the L being the type of vehicle it is, do you really want to take an aftermarket warranty to cover the L? I don't think so. I have seen too many of them go BK over the years leaving the owner without. And sometimes they are a big pain in the a** to get a service charge paid for (some are good and some are not. You'd be taking a chance)
