Cool Fun Ford Weekend Street Legal Drags @ Gainesville, Fl.

Hey All-Dan here,
Last night at Gainesville Raceway TWO (2) RED LIGHTNINGS (the fastest color) took 1st and 3rd to trounce a field of 25 Ford only cars and trucks.
Unfortunatuly in the semi round I had to run the other lightning since the cobra got the bye run. With the track slipping away early, we tried to stay on top of our dial-ins to the tune of either on or a hundreth off with mid five lights.
This is very special for me because after a gap of 30 years not drag racing to return only 4 months ago at 55 years young to get my first trophy, PUT A BIG SMILE ON MY FACE, to say the least.
I know there are alot of guys out there that have gotten more trophys then I, NOW I KNOW HOW YOU FEEL!!
I guess it's like your first L*Y (sorry-LOVE). You never really forget it.

Thanks for listening,

Dan-Big grin-Rella

BEWARE! This is highly additive. I started for the first time five months ago and I'm 56. I go every Friday nite. Won my 4th trophy last night. I know of no cure. Looking at a location to build trhphy care in middle of living room. Antiques will have to go.

Thanks JL.
It was a GREAT night Friday night. Too bad they only hold this on the first friday of every month.
We got rained out AGAIN Sat. night for Summit E.T Bracket Racing Series.
Can't wait for cooler weather to use your JohnnyLightning Ram Air.
Should have the cooler up and running this week.
Thanks for the shout.

Told you Noel, you would have to build the case. May I suggest in the living room in front of the newly added picture window.

Hey Spiro,
Thanks, it was quite awhile in comming. And on the worst traction night ever.
Don't worry about the trophy case, I already have plenty of shelves, just have to rearange things.
As far as being in the blood. It's just been dormant for 30+ years.
Wish I was going with you and JL to Norwalk but next year for sure.

Cool

What are the symptoms of this drag racuing sickness. I think I may have it and I have never raced in my life! I find myself building this truck for the 1/4 mile and there seems to be no end in site. Is there anything you guys can perscribe? Should I go to some meetings or something? Will I still have a 401 K left? I now find myself researching stroked short blocks and stage 2 blower heads! it has to stop!!!

Flats Man,

The biggest thing to have in your corner is an understanding wife/girlfriend. This way when you blow the 401k, etc., you won't get the boot, too.

I've been racing on and off for 8 years now. I get a lot more satisfaction out of designing/building/tuning the combo and then just having fun with it. Racing on tires that actually hook (slicks) means a lot more wear 'n tear on parts...which means more $$ to spend on "necessary upgrades".

Most of all, have fun. Sounds like you have a cool project on your hands!

Everytime I run brackets, I either redlight or fall asleep. Both times I came within .02 of my dial in. That's the end of racing for this year.

This is lots of fun. Now if only they would shut down a freeway up here for a Cannon Ball run...
