Post I might sell my L.....

Well, sadly the crunch is finally starting to get to me. My L draws way too much attention by all the wrong people. Cops included. Me being so young and driving my truck is really starting to cause problems. Break ins, tire slashings, tickets, meaningless traffic stops. Etc Etc Etc. I'm really sick of it. I'm thinking about selling my baby and picking up a supapooh. (subaru ) impreza. I don't think the extra 20 or so miles per gallon would hurt at all especially since I am going to be back in school soon and can't work full time. Insurance would probably be a little cheaper also. I would love to keep the truck but I really don't think I can. what to do what to do what to do.

"My L draws way too much attention by all the wrong people."

Think maybe it could have something to do with the fact you're running STRAIGHT PIPES?

Get a 1998-99 Contour SVT. Fun in a different way than the L and gets good mileage. They also hold their value very well.

Talking

I remember when I got my first vet, age 25. Really acted and drove it like a fool. After totaling it out at over a 100 mph and nearly killing several people, I thought it was time to get something a little different.

But after thinking about it, I decided it was easier (in my case) to just grow up. I have since had 5 more vets and other "fast-high-profile-cars" without incident. My love for truly special vehicles ended up out-weighing my desire to "show off" and act stupid. Think it through!

I don't drive like an idiot. I don't drive recklessly. I know I have a few times though. That has nothing to do with what is going on now. I have thought it through I hate to do it, but I need something with better gas mileage. I'm only 19 I can't afford my own place, school and the truck somethings gotta go, and well it has to be the truck.

Floyd91, for the reason of you getting rid of it becuase of jealous people and the cost, I can see why. But not the cops pulling you over. I am the same age as you, but I live in the Los Angeles area, I'm 6 foot, 230 lbs, bald, with a mustach and goatee, and to be honest, I look like a hispanic gang member (even though i'm black and white). The one year of having my 99 Camaro, i've been pulled over 8 times, 9 times if you want to include the time I was driving my friends 95 Mustang. Everytime it's some B.S. excuse, among my favorites are, "Oh, it looked like you didn't have your seat belt on", and "Your license plate frame was convering your license plate, so it looked suspicious." I have guns drawn on my, all kinds of crap. But you gotta roll with the punches. If in anyway you can keep the truck, go for it. (refer to my Acquired Lightnings??? post.)

p.s. Sorry for the long post people. This is a great truck, and I'm still looking for other things to sell so I can buy it.

I get the same bs excuses too. No felony stops though. We really don't do that here. I my self am 6'0 220. Iv'e had the cops ask me what I do for a living to afford such a nice truck. Some ask where I work etc. The cost won't really play that much until January when I start school. hmmm this is kinda confusing and frustrating.

No one has ever said anything about the straight pipes, and I definently don't wood it out of my neighborhood.

When my truck was only a few months old someone dumped some kind of plaster material on my truck over night. And believe it or not since I started parking the Lightning in the garage and the Mustang outside someone stole my Mustang emblem! I would meet "friends of friends" who say "oh you're the guy on blah blah street with that Lightning" even though I have no idea who they are. And I've been through all that cop BS too! Legal street pirates with their highway robbery!

Anyways sorry to keep rambling my point is I know how you're feeling and since I got my restricted license the thought had crossed my mind too, but, I have just spent almost another 2K on mods and I can't even drive the thing yet so you know what I think you should do!

Mike
