Byron Stock Lightning Times!!!
All right guys,
Yes we had a lot of awsome times at Byron Sunday, but don't forget my best time of 13.493 @ 102.62. This is a stock 99 L (OK...Sal's filter), 3/4 tank of gas and a fat old man driving Plus an R/T of .550...should I quit now??!!
I had a great time with a great bunch of guys, and Lightning Bob will post pic's of the winners and all the L's
Let's do it again before the season ends!

BigD and Gang:
Great time, I guess. But a Lightning with an intake kit is definitely NOT "stock", by any stretch of the imagination. You do NOT have an outrageously fast stock Lightning. You do have a pretty fast 'Bolt with some light modification, but it's simply NOT stock.
The three most potent bolt-ons for the Lightning, as far as I can tell, are a chip, intake, and drag radials. In the absence of a chip, a tranny shift kit is also in the hunt. Each appears to be worth about three-tenths, give-or-take. So figure a 13.8, give or take a bunch, with the stock airbox and filter. That's pretty decent, but not hair-raising. Now, if you only got a tenth from the intake (a bit conservative), you have a 13.6 stock truck, which is pretty stout for sure.
Incidentally, what are the fastest times any of you have run with a truly STOCK truck (NO performance mods whatsoever, of any type)? I'm thinking that 14.0's are typical, with the really fast ones dipping no lower than the 13.7's. Of course, atmospheric conditions play big, but I'm sure some of you got your Lightning to the 'strip on a cold day before you started building the bejeezus out of them.

Jeff S (NLOC president) ran a 13.68 with the addition of only a "Jack in the Box" antenna ball on his new 00 L at WFC2000. I guess that's not stock either, huh?

Great job Sunday and thanks for the pics. I will try to post them and the ones I got from ZorPrime maybe tonight. I too liked your "helmet".
