2004 Vette
#3
Randy, a copy is a copy. You'd think that Chevy would want to make a statement about its own brand identity and design prowess rather than duplicate another company's design. In the past, whenever you saw a vette on the street there was no question what kind of car it was. That uniqueness is one of the factors that made it so popular.
Badbolt, the car pictured is a 360 Modena and is the car you are thinking about .

GM is better off copying a good design.
When their designers get to go off in their own direction, they produce things like the Pontiac Aztec or the Chevy Lumpala.

I hope your right...because I love vette's and that thing is no vette. It is but ugly. To go back to exposed headlights like every other wanna be sports thing out there would be a monstocity. Yes of course I know the original vettes had exposed lights...but htey have been hiddel for almost 40 years now...and thats the way they should remain. Lamborghini ruined the beautiful diablo when it put those god awfull exposed lights on it. Same with the Ferrari when the Testarossa became the 512 TR and got exposed lamps.
Sorry to vent. Its just a itchy topic with me!

If I remember correctly those artist renderings were in MT some time ago, before the Ferrari was out publicly. They did drawings of the Ferrari, claimed it was a vette and sold a lot of copies of the magazine. From what I've heard it is nothing like the next Vette at all.
Also...I'm with BlackLight on the light issue. I think exposed headlamps is a good thing, especially when they are worked into the shape of the car. Pop up lamps are a great way to kill the Dc and they always breakdown (especially GM) and then you are stuck with them in the up position all the time and they are ugly.
just MHO...

IMO, yes it looks kinda like the Ferrari, but, the front end looks almost exactly like a camaro. The hood is identical to a camaro. Maybe GM is trying to save some money?

Hey GM has coped the Ferrari before. The stingray with its fins that stuck out past the rear window. Yep they got that from Ferrari. Im sure they have copied them other times as well. The c6 copies a Ferrari a little to much though. One thing for sure is that they sould make it look as differnt from the F-bodies as posible. They just look to much alike.
