Talking YAAAAA I blew up one of my 20" Toyos- so Help me pick out some new tires

Yo guys
I am so happy, I blew up one of my Toyos, WHOOOOO HOOOOOO Now I can finally get some new tires

While the Toyos looked good, and wear well, thats all that was good about them.

So for all those running 20 inch rims, tell me what tires you are running, and how you like them. I don't want to make a mistake like I did with the Toyos.

I want to stay as close to the stock overall diameter as possible. It is OK to go just a little taller, but not shorter.

Thanks in advance
Don

Ever tried Valken? I have heard good stuff about them but I dunno about traction since none were on a L. They said they ride great and minimal road noise but if there is no traction. it's not worth it. IMHO I have the Hankooks and pay $89 a tire so I will stick with those while I have to hookup.

try the yokohama advan st's they will be my next tire.....they are getting rave reviews so far. Currently i am running michelin dimaris, and really like them, but the yoko's are cheaper and have been said to have sharper handling.

I run a 295/45/20 Falken Ziex S/TZ-01. So far i like them. I have had them on the L for six months and have only put about 4000 miles on them, so i cant say much about wear yet? But they do ride very smooth and they are quiet.

BFG KDWs have a reputation for being about the grippiest street tire around. But then there is always the grip versus life issue.

I'm probably going to get a set since BFG quit making runflats.

Hello,

i am running Hankook Ventus ST in the size 295/40 on my 20´s.

they perform a lot better than the stock F1´s. In cornering, on wet roads.

First i wasn´t sure to get them because the are the tires of the lower price level, but now i would buy them again.

André

btw.

I don´t know if you can get them in 295/40. Someone told me they are only available in the US in 295/45.

Thanks guys

Tim I looked into the BFG's but unless they have something not listed on there web page, they don't make anything close to the right size.

They make 295/40 in both the new and old (my favorite) tread design. Check out tirerack.com

Mine seemed to get hard as they wore also. I'm not down to the wear bars yet, but I'm still replacing them.

But they were fun for the three years that it took to get there.

It looks like I am leaning towards the Michelin Latitude Tour HP

No matter what I look at there is either 275/40/20 which are nice, but are a little narrower than the stock Goodyears. Or the next jump is the 295/40/20 but they are just to tall, I wouldn't mind a 29 inch overall diameter, but 29.5 is to tall for me.

Sometimes I wish I never went to 20 inch wheels

Well Don the 295/40-20 are a bit bigger and I wont use that size anymore, especially since i went to my 20x9.5 and 20x11 setup, but you really will be fine with a good 275/40-20 if you want to maintain OD within 1% it is only 2cm narrower but when moutned on a 20x10 th difference is negligable. you could always go for a 305/35-20 and squeeze it on, but the price gets ridiculous.

Thanks for the advice
I looked into the Hankook Ventus ST that Andre mentioed, for $199 per tire at a local shop, the price sounds good. I even called Hankook, and talked to a tech there, he seemed like a good guy. They sound like a good tire, and they are a friendlly company.

I talked to a few tire dealers about the Michelins Latitude Tour HP
275/40 front and 315/35 rears. The place I bought my Toyos from wanted $1750, and he told me he was giving me a deal. From Tirerack I can get them for $1240, and then with shipping and mounting/ballancing it would come out to $1470

I think it was you who has the 4x4 Diamaris, and they sound awesome, except not as good wear rating as the Latitudes. I know they are not as cool looking as the 4x4 Diamaris, but all the tests on them have been very good.
