Post Syclone vs. Lightning at GLD

I met with SillySyclone, & went to the track. We ran a "street race" with no clocks at the track. I spotted him 6 car lengths. The flag was dropped, we both left at the same time, but he was 90' up from the tree. I caught him at about 2/3 track, & went on for the win (with about 4 car lead at the finish). He's a real nice guy, & I enjoyed the race (& playing on the highway). I ran a new best time today, 13.07 @ 100.21 against a fairly strong head wind. New best 60' times too. 1.63 & 1.64 on F1's!! All in all a good day. Lloyd

Spiro, I was shocked! I've inly heard of 1 guy running 1.6x 60' on F1's. There was another guy running a (can't remember the name) running a JL chip & mass air. His truck wouldn't hook up at all for half the day. When it finally did he ran some in the 13.1 range, & the last run he ran a 13.03. My worst 60' was a 2.01 when I took Mike, (SillySyclone) with me. A 1.60 60ft.!!!! I have never got better than a 2.01 on F-1s and a 1.96 on slicks. If I could get 1.60s I would be in the 12s. Are you sure the tracks numbers are accurate? Do you get these #s consistantly? I am in no was saying I dont believe you, I'm just mind-boggeled. I am very impressed, and wish I could just get consistant 1.90s. If you have any launching techniques that might be of help to me, please list. I am also wondering what your 1/4 times were when you ran the 2.00 plus 60ft times. Please list it if you can. Thanks!!

I consistently get 1.9 60' times, usually a 1.94. I also have a couple 1.7's & 1.8's. When I ran the 2.01 60', My truck was hot (right after another run) with a passenger. It was a 13.66. Here's my routine: I back up just in front of the water box, Brake torque till 3000 rpms then release the brake, still on the gas as far forward as I can (It usually hits second). Then stage at 1000. Thats it! Lloyd

I just looked it up. Jerry Green ran a 1.67 60' time. Does that make me the "unoffical" best 60' time on F1's with a 1.631 60'? Lloyd

So did the Sy ever make a timed 1/4 mile run? If so, what was it? Testing trucks at the SAME track on the SAME night is the best way to know the differences.

I didn't want to mention it, but.... We ran one timed run together. He ran a 14.93 @ 89.68 2.11 60' to my 13.53 @ 99.61 1.98 60' H4e has about the same degree of mods as me (just a couple). For sure he has the upgraded fuel pump & filter and? Now before anybody starts a pi$$ing contest, I'm sure his truck was out of tune. But we ran what we brought. There was also a Typhoon running mid 12's with more mods. Lloyd

Wink

I wasn't trying to encite any more chest-beating...just wanted the facts. That's all I needed to hear.

You guys were obviously fighting a headwind as your trap speeds were down quite a bit. To run a best of 13.0x at only 100mph means on the top-end the wind was hurting you big time.

Yes, there was a strong head wind. when I ran a 13.15 at Byron my mph was 103. I ran .08 faster & lost 3mph. you could really feel it. I know the truck could've ran a 12.9X with out the wind. Lloyd

I lowered the pressure to 21# about a month ago. It didn't help that day, but I never added more. so it should've been 20-21#. Best of all I have a unbiased witness to how it launched, (SillySyclone). He was watching. Lloyd

Lloyd:

In that you certainly is the man when it comes to running the R9/Airaid combo, when you launch at 1000 RPM, do you immediately go to WOT, or do you ease it on until you hook up? I suspect that you have an especially fast truck. Thanks. Sandy

I SLAM the gas immediately after lifting off the brake. When I first bought my truck, I was running 14.8-9's with a best of 14.72. this was a 95+ degree day. I pushed it hard from day one. I guess they do run better when you drive them hard. I've got 2200 miles on it. Still may get a little faster with this combo. Lloyd
