Tell you what I'm gonna do guys ......

When the Clintonistas (or the Goreonistas) tell us no one can own a gun 'cept the Feds and the cops, I'm gonna take all mine to the worst part of the inner city and give 'em all to the druggies.

Let the Feds take them away from them.

Moonshine, I think the wrong word was used. I think the appropriate word is "devolved".

Now i'm a troll because my point of view is different? No matter, a troll i'll be. Listen, the constitution has, and will continue to be interpreted and just because some interpret it differently doesn't mean armageddon is upon us. If you lose your "right" to bear arms (which you never really had to begin with, just the right to raise a militia) it doesn't mean that a police state is soon to follow. Now step slowly away from your radio or else turn Rush Limbaugh off. And while i'm dashing all of your redneck fantasies, i'll add this. John Wayne wasn't a cowboy, just an actor.

Wow what a thread!!
As a homebrewing, gun shooting, Ted listening, L driving member of this online community, I must say this is the most interesting conversation I have seen in awhile I am not even going to get into the politics, although I can say under the current administration I have spent more time in third-world sh*tholes than I care to think about Oh well time for another homebrewed weizen!

I love to argue with other people's opinions. However ILL, you have resorted to name calling because you cannot defend your opinion on a topic you obviously know little about. I have researched this topic starting in middle school and never stopped. I have engaged in numerous debates and read many books and historical articles on the topic. The constitution DID in fact grant the individual the right to keep and bear arms. Your misinterpretation starts with the word militia. Look up historical facts on what Jefferson believed this word to mean and you will probably be surprised. You see, it is the word militia that has changed meaning over the years. And that happens. Words change meaning over time. If you were to say something was "cool" or "sweet" 200 years ago, people would think you were referring to ice or candy.

ILL- "If you lose your "right" to bear arms (which you never really had to begin with, just the right to raise a militia) it doesn't mean that a police state is soon to follow."

Oh really. Well maybe not. Then again, if you were a student of history, you might recall the events that Preceded WWII. Before invading a country, Hitler would force legislation that would ban all weapons in said country. After all, an unarmed populace would be quite easy to take over. Then the aforementioned police state would follow.

Of course that could never ever ever happen again right? ::Hint- History tends to repeat itself. The ignorant fall victim to this time after time::

Oh and to address the personal attacks...I cannot speak for anyone else here, but I for one am not a redneck. I was born and raised in NY (25 miles outside of NYC). I graduated Penn State in the upper echelon of my class with a BS in Management Science and Information Systems and a Minor in Law. I do not live on a farm, nor do I ever have any desire to. I am a computer and technology nut, as well as a car buff. I do not listen to Rush and I have never seen a John Wayne movie.

So no Ill, I am not a redneck. Never have I been and never will I be. I am an intelligent who at 21 makes enough money to buy a Lightning. (Not to mention my Vulcan, hot tub and other toys). So I resent that comment, but can brush it off to your total ignorance. Owning a gun does not make one a redneck. Supporting the constitution does not make one a redneck.

I could make some wisecracks about you given typical "California" stereotypes, but I won't because I don't know you well enough. And there are many good people on this board from California that have proven those sorts of stereotypes untrue.

So you can feel free to continue to call everyone rednecks and morons and whatever else you feel like. However, we will just sit back and laugh at the ignorant talk that comes across our lil computer monitors.

I do feel bad for you though. You sound like a very angry person. Have you ever considered anger management classes? Orrr, even better. Go target shooting. Or skeet shooting! It's a wonderful way to relieve stress. Just might make u feel better.

Me? I'm just going to go drive my L, then have a beer in my hot tub!

Peace and empathy.

Wow, touchy bunch. Guess we'll just have to agree to disagree. I can argue this point all day, though I think it would do me no good. I'm sorry if i came across as bitter or angry, but i assure you i'm not. You've researched this since you were in junior high? That's almost sad, different strokes i guess. I'm curious though, why did you feel the need to list your possessions? Does owning a Lightning and hot tub disqualify you as a redneck? I used the word redneck because so far every one in defense of the right to bear arms argues like a redneck. But since we're all telling our life story, maybe i should too? I grew up in the South, left home before i got sucked into the world of white trash, and joined the Navy. Got out of the Navy in San Francisco and decided to go check out that Silicon Valley thing. And here i am. So my beliefs lie somewhere between Newt Gingrich and Al Sharpton. I won't bore you with my list of possessions or what i'm going to do after posting this.

After reading your latest post, and then re-reading some of you earlier posts I believe this "redneck" has discovered a term that decribes your superior evolutionary status - a hypocrite.

Besides, you pissed me off when you denigrated The Duke. He was ma daddy, or mebbe it was ma uncle. I get um confused, since theys both with ma mama, or was thet ma sister?

Just showing you that I'm not a redneck. I don't know of too many 21 year old rednecks that make the kind of money I do working on a farm or whatever it is that rednecks do. And that would go for prolly most anyone else on the board. You can out and called everyone a redneck...just thought I might bring to light the fact that I am not a redneck.

Since I never called you a redneck (or anything else for that matter) you have no reason to defend yourself or tell us your story. I was just hoping to open your mind to the fact that not everyone who owns a gun is a redneck. Also, not everyone who owns a pick me up truck is a redneck (another popular myth).

Oh...How exactly does one argue like a redneck? Is backing up one's opinion with fact and history 'arguing like a redneck'? You see to have these disgusting stereotypes that you want to apply to everyone without good reason.

And as far as researching it since middle school (possibly even before...I don't remember). I do that because of people like you who want to take away my freedoms...who tell everyone that the constitution does not give people the right to keep and bear arms. So if you think that researching topics that you beleive strongly in...and being able to support your argument with facts and history instead of paranoid nonsense...is sad....well then sir..i feel bad for you.

Besides...I needed something to write papers about.

If the Amendment II of the Bill of Rights didn't include the provision for the "people" to "keep and bear arms", answere me as to why the "people" were not dissarmed just after the Bill of Rights was crafted because they were never intended to "keep and bear arms" And, why has there been no problem until our modern day with private gun ownership. It's Constitutional revisionism.......by modern day liberal politicians that don't have the ***** to deal with the criminal element in this country. Thank God, Mr. Bush made his views VERY CLEAR in the second debate a while back. And, thank God it's very hard to assemble a Constitutional Convention. In this day and age, that could be DISASTEROUS!! with all the Socialists and Communists flying around lately.
