Exclamation "The Force" ram-air system installed--->

just finished up instaling my ram air intake system. It mounts right under the drivers-side bumper. It is a whopping 4" intake tube that "throws" air right onto the filter!!! I didnt have to cut the fender at all, I ran the 4" tubing right up into the fender in front of the tire & ran it straight to the top of the flter with a huge outlet tube that flows all the air smack dab onto the whole filter. I ran around the block & it seems to run stronger now. I call it "The Force Ram Air".

what I will need to do is stop by Peter B's house. He has all the equipment (digital camera etc...) to post pics. Will do this week. It is kinda hard to explain how I did it, like that say a pic is worth a thousand words. So will try to get pics of it. Looks pretty darn cool though!

Question

I'm curious if any of you guys with a ram-air kit (either home made or aftermarket) is having any driveability problems? I was experimenting with a ram-air kit on my '93 Mustang GT (Pro-Flow 77mm MAF) and it caused all kind of driveability problem and error code.

i am really curious what you used i went and bought stove pipe but their isn't that much room the elbow i am thinking a rubber elbow but wondering about the pipe itself and maybe an shop vac nozzle 4 a intake. it gets expensive keeping mods up on three lightnings so they are about equal for racing at home. i should cheat and put the most on the truck i race i guess.

I used 4" flexable aluminum hose, with a heat temp of 1,500 degrees. It was a tight fit, but got it stuffed between the radiator hose & ran it up to the filter. I then put a 4" plastic elbow that directs the air right onto the filter. Down below I bought a huge vent with a 4" hole at the back that grabs the air. It is 11x4 vent. I mounted it with a U clip to the bottom of the frame just inside the driver side tire. Hope this helps

Hello all..

No flame or anything.. but I was always under the impression that you could not have a " True " ram air on a forced induction car.. All the extra plumbing and stuff can bring nice cold fresh air under the hood but it is not a ram air like on the F-body cars..

Any track testing with a ram air setup ? I doubt a dyno would be able to measure differences because the truck is not moving..

I can see both sides of this.

Imagine that the engine is an airpump (again) and whatever ot takes to make it breathe better improves performance. Granted, we a supercharged, at about 8 pounds. That may be only 8 psi becuase thats all that the supercharger may produce because thats whats readily available, kinda like altitude. With ram air, it puts more air into the rotor blades, allowing a more effiecient supercharge, or lower absolute altitude.

Dont the Lightnings slow down at higher elevation (1/4)?

Not sure if I said it right, but I hope yo usee what I mean.
