Thumbs down

Hey Where's the cream filling????, uh, I mean Supercharger/Intercooler. Hell, seems like a gas guzzler to me. But the 6.6L one, hmmm....It has potential. But I will admit this (being a Chevy guy and all) the F-150 body looks 10000000x's better than the Chevy truck styles!!! So, i'll stick with a LIMITED PRODUCTION (which is something Chevy does not know how to do) SVT Lightning !

Talking

Bigger than an L, much uglier than an L, heavier than and L, and no doubt much SLOWER than an L. Congrats to to GM on another dog that will never see production!

. Silverado Coolside II also features the first application of the New Venture Gear viscous coupling all-wheel-drive transfer case
Now that would be cool...

WOW.....reading the article...well the truck sounded awesome! Then I saw the picture and was really dissappointed. Maybe it looks bad because its a 4 door? Or maybe it's the white tailights? I don't know...it just doesn't look nice.

If we see a version of either of those, it will probably be a stock 8.1 or 6.0 engine which both put out approx 345 hp. (6.0 Escalade version). rarely do you see one of the big 3 offering their most powerful engines in anything but their flagship and most expensive vehicles. how would the ZO6 crowd react to the 500hp v8's offered in a 30-35K truck. the 99 lightning is one exception i can think of this happening, but Ford did give cobra owners the option of the "R" if they really wanted more hp than the lightning in 2000. were the sy/ty turbo v6's rated hp the highest offered in their day,or was the corvettes more? have they done this b4 to corvette owners?

DRIVETRAIN:

IRON BLOCK / ALUMINUM HEAD 16 VALVE OHV V8 ENGINE
PEAK TORQUE: 605 LB-FT @ 4500 RPM
PEAK POWER: 575 HP @ 5700 RPM
4L80HD-E 4-SPEED AUTOMATIC TRANSMISSION
VISCOUS, FULLTIME ENGAGEMENT TRANSFER CASE
SOLID REAR AXLE
FRAME MOUNTED FRONT DIFFERENTIAL

Hrm... Sounds like its got more power than the current L's
I think it will either be just as fast, if not faster... if the compression allows an aftermarket blower, well, damn... I need to spend more money on my truck =)

I think it looks really neat!
It would never make it to production with all of those goodies intact....that should be obvious to anyone. It will be a much more toned-down version. As well, could you imagine the cost of it in the current form of what they were proposing in that description?

Well, I'm not so sure about the Coolside II, or the SS, but the Chevy dealer near my house is saying that the Scorcher IS on it's way to production. Said it comes with either a V-6 or V-8. <Shrug> But I'll tell you this, I trust them as far as I could throw them.

I don't want to start any trouble but I really like the Coolside. I wouldn't give up my L for it but the specs look good. I don't care for the flame paint. They should have just painted it silver.

Boy the Chevy guys are wetting their pants over this one. I thought those guys on Pickup truck dot com were gonna pass out
I think an all-wheel drive, big-block sounds awesome. Will they build it? Who knows. I did detect a certain undercurrent of L envy among the posters though

The Coolside-2 with the 8100 looked pretty nice, I wasn't to taken to the unibody contrsuction on the SS.

My question as always is, is the truck going to be built, and if so, is this the building specs...

Or are these the concepts? You can concept all you want, but if you never build any of the damn trucks, what fun is it... Remeber the GT90?

I'm new to this board, so take it easy on me. I have been reading messages on this board for some time. I find it intersting that some individuals are slamming these concept trucks already...they haven't even turned a wheel yet! These trucks should be embraced. If Chevy never builds a performance truck...do you think Ford will seriously update the Lightning? If Dodge built a truck with better performance than a Lightning, do you think Ford would just sit around and do nothing. I would love to see another horsepower race, another performance race, some competition for the Lightning. That is what made the muscle cars of the late 60's and early 70's. One-up-manship. Competition breeds higher performance. Lets pray that Chevey builds one of these vehicles...that way, SVT will have a good reason to up the standard with the Lightning.
