Question

Has anyone tried a sealant yet? I know it's not a fix but just curious. I have used something called alumaseal<sp> and it worked great on other stuff.

I'm nearing 300mi *knock knock* and so far no leaks. The only fluid I've seen come out the bottom is water from the A/C.

I'm still watching tho...

To all who are losing intercooler coolant,

If you live in an area where the chance of freezing temps has passed, just put in plain water until you get the problem fixed. This should prevent any damage to sensors or cats. A little water injection won't hert a thing.

Picked her up late yesterday. Seems to work just fine.

Service Manager said they took off everything, including the heads. Roush came over with a complete built up assembly (including a new supercharger, intercooler & intake manifold) which was carefully torqued down. Seems Roush thinks flexing may be causing the coil failures. Oil and both coolent systems were flushed. Spark plugs were replaced and the O2 sensors checked (passed).

I asked for the old supercharger to give to my brother's automotive education lab, but Roush had already shipped it to Gates(?) for analysis.

At first I couldn't get more than 6 PSI max. Then with a little right foot exercise it started to almost touch 10 PSI.

I'm glad this was on Ford's dime as I'm sure it would have cost me >$3,000. Cross your fingers and watch that intercooler coolent level.

Well finally after a long wait, the parts have arrived to replace the intercooler . For those still waiting, ther`s hope for 4-10-00, SVT has scheduled 56..yes 56 intercoolers to be arriving at local dealerships. Don`t ask how I know, but yes it`s true. Im scheduled for Monday...

Checked mine today. Added another quart to bring back up to full line. Not good.

I just got off the phone with my service rep and will stop by this afternoon to add some dye and then we will check the manifold for signs of fluid through the intake...

So as far as I can tell the steps are:
1) Check coolant level.
2) If losing fluid chech for hoses and clamps
3) If clamps/hoses are good, check for coolant in intake.
4) If coolant in intake, replace intercooler, maybe replace engine complete?

How do you determine/convince your dealer to replace the complete engine ? I do not enjoy the thought of running fluid through the engine...

Well, they finally got all the gaskets in for mine, now no free loaner, so i'm waiting for the free vehicle. Don't give them you truck until they have all the parts and right now everything is on backorder.

Hey Noelvm did they say anything to you about the supercharge torque to yield bolts being on backorder? TMV finally got my intercooler, but no bolts *agghhhh* I have been without my truck for over a month now.
oh well...maybe tomorrow or Friday.

Has anyone here tried replacing their intercooler with the 2001 version? I know it is possible but wonder how much work/modification would be involved.
