Post Recall on all Lightnings

More like a TSB

I brought my truck in for the front end clunk, piston slap ,and the air box sensor was loose.

They basically said that they did not hear the knocking during cold start up.They also said,If I bring it back again, the only repair will be a new motor. This makes me want to live with it for a while. It only last 1 minute and my truck is a screamer and i do not wan to end up with a slow motor and the new motor would be kind of a depreciation as far as I am concerned.

There is a TSB on the clunk.A new bolt, nut, star washer.

Their is also a recall on both of the belts. They said the symptoms are a rattling noise and ticking. They are also replacing my belts even though i had no idea of this problem. If any of you have any strange sounds you might wanna check it out.

The air box sensor is because I had to file it down to fit in the Downs tube.No need for them to know though

all in all,my truck has been in the shop for 3 days and is kind of a pain in the *** for such minor repairs. The problem is they did not have the parts up till and at 3 oclock today. With any luck, tomorrow

How many miles do you have on your truck? I have over 7000 miles on mine with no problems.

Maybe mine will all come at once, but...
I just turned over 16,000 miles and the L has never even see a Ford service department, for anything.
Just lucky, I guess...

Lightningquick, I get a rattling sound if i get on the gas as much as i can without the L downshifting. If i keep the rpms up, it doesnt happen. Maybe this is the same thing as the "fluttering" sound others have posted about on here, i dunno. Do you think that could be this belt issue? Also is there any kind of reference # on the recall to tell the service manager about?

The only rattling with a load on I can think of is detonation.

I just turned 10k

'00White,

That rattling you hear while in OD under part-throttle acceleration (and occurring only if it does not downshift) is a sure sign of a chip that has been programmed with too much part-throttle timing.

Let me guess...you have a chip, right?

It goes away when you downshift b/c in lower gears there is less load on the engine.

WA 2 FST,

I have not chipped my L. The only mod I have is the airaid filter. And you're right, it is most apparent in OD and 3rd gear. Any other ideas of what this might be?
