Bananas and other green fruit are ripened overnight with cyclopropane or as the song calls it "banapple gas". cyclopropane is also a very strong anesthesia gas used in major surgery. some of it is retained in the peels of the nannas, and if someone was inclined to smoke a few dozen peels, they might feel something,,, like stupid. Ethylene gas is also used more widely now for fruits, vegetables and flowers
