Like them or not, we are just about stuck with the Goodyears, which have a very fluctuating price depending on when you get them. Well, just ordered two from Tirerack.com for $215 each which is the lowest I have seen yet. I bought the first set at $260 a piece, and the next set at $245. Quoted locally, they were asking as much as 395 a piece.

I'm not quite ready for tires, but don't want to risk paying extra in a few months when I need them.

Wait till you get a flat with side wall damage and lots of tread left. So far I've had to buy tires that way. You were lucky they were in stock.

 

FYI,

Both NTB and Discount Tire will match prices from TireRack.com (at least the ones around here do). Might save some waiting and aggravation.

Wyldman...good info...yes..with a little arm twisting...Discount Tire will match that...but normally they will include the shipping...since you must absorb that cost regardless....very glad to see the price drop considerably!

 

Tire Rack has Yoks for 231 ea.They are 285/40/18 same load rating but better speed Y instead of Z.They are on sale,Height is 27 instead of 28.6 works out to very close to 3.73 axle then
Z is good to 165 at best
Y is good to 186

 

If you use the Yoks should you reprogram your chip? Seems like going with them should cause your RPM's to rise.
