Depends.

A good driver on a good track, with a average or better truck should run 13.7 - 13.9 in Texas air. It seems the guys up north do better.

And a stock one with 10k or so miles probably would do even better. Thing is, most are modded by that point.

It's really gonna be interesting to see what you guys can do with the new ones. Are they really that much faster, or is Ford finally putting up numbers that are more realistic? Time will tell.

Jim, I personally asked Tom Scarpello that question. He said they actually make more horsepower with the 01.

So, is it going to be as underrated as the 99/00's? We shall see!

Also, where in Southern Ohio are you? I'm in Portsmouth. Send me an Email Trace92lx@aol.com

It seems like the 99s varied ALOT more than the 2000s.Probally can be explained through the cux2 program.

some 99s got 14.4 some got 13.8s

Now on the other hand,Seems like most of the 2000s
run very consistantly at 13.8-13.9

If I had to guess,The 01s are probally gonna run low 13s stock!its like putting a factory chip and air intake on a 2000 with gears. The mechanics have basically stayed the same so,i compare it like this

2000 air intake $149 will flow as good or better than 01s.I bet we will see 01 owners putting on intakes.

2000 aftermaket chip will bring down the E/Ts dramatically.
2001s have the same mechanics so,There is no way that a modded 2001 can run any faster than than a modded 2000.

Un the end result,The 2001 is much better stock but with the same mods,It is physically impossible to run any faster than a 2000.The 01 will not get the same gains from chips because they are already aggresivly tuned. Its like having a lightning with a superchip and then comparing it to a JDM program.......You know what I mean?

But Ray,

What about the 3.73 gears? I don't see those in your equation. Hmmmm?!?

I think the gears are going to be good for 2 tenths,i forgot about that..........But not to worry,Gears can be done on the 2000s
Its funny if you take the price of the 2000 with the same mods and the price of a 01 stock,Its about the same.Granted,i like a FACTORY drivabilty factor a little better but soon as you chip the 01 ,you in sa same ol boat. you guys keep me on my toes

The engineering team achieved these increases by enlarging the air inlet system for better engine breathing, improving intercooler efficiency and redesigning the lower intake manifold to improve air flow.

First I gotta take issue with gforce, I don't think most Lightnings are modded. Most of the ones on this board are, but this is a special segment of the owner population, maybe 300-400 performance freaks out of almost 9000 L's? Most of the L's that I see are bone stock, and my would be too, if I hadn't accidentally run across this money sucking forum. So it your R/T is going to being running 13.8's its going to be able to handle a lot of Lightnings, depending on the conditions. There is a lot of variation due to manufacturing tolerances from truck to truck, and a lot of variation from day to day due to atmospheric and track conditions. The day I ran my 13.39, a bone stock '00 ran 14.1. The weather was hot, and he said he had run 13.9's under better conditions, which I think is typical for a stock L. But we have seen some of the better ones run 13.6 or better under good conditions. I would anticipate that the 01's, with the gears, etc., would run 13.4 - 13.6, stock, and maybe better under ideal conditions. But, hell, once I get my i/c fixed and shift kit installed, if I catch a good day I hope to run 12's. So, the answer to your question is, you should have some close races with stock '99 and '00 L's, but you're not going to be able to handle the '01's, or most of the trucks on this board.

Cool

I believe the hot setup for 99-00 L would be to keep our modded setup and install some of the 01 mods like the 90mm mass-air,and the new lower intake along with the intercooler fix which is coming this spring! That is where the real e.t drops are coming from according from Garrett Eng. and SVT.
