Question Towing?

Will an L2 be a sufficient tow vehicle for my '96 Cobra (about 3600# + tools, spare parts etc.) on an open trailer?

Piece-O-Cake! In fact, you can still race with the load if you're so inclined. L's are tow monsters.

Do a SEARCH. Lotsa towing info here.

I've towed 5,000 pounds from New York. No problems. 12 MPG.

Dude, enough with the 'Do a Search' advice, thanks so much for that. I read the FAQ, and have read some threads, but rather than spend 6 weeks digging through every thread out there, I figured I'd get some people's opinion quickly. Thanks for the input on towing the 5K pounds, that was helpful. My concern is that with my Vobra, trailer, parts etc., that I'll be exceeding the 5K pound tow rating. Should I be concerned? And do you folks recommend any tow-related mods, like swaybars etc. for this truck and load type?

The best thing to do is load up the Cobra on the trailer with all the goodies you want to take along and have it weighed. That way, you know what you got. You didn't speak to how much your trailer weighs in at. If your trailer has electric brakes, get an electric brake controller mounted under dash to fine toon the braking effect. If you don't have any trailer brakes, you will need to compensate for the load when you drive. The L's brakes are pretty good to start with.

Thumbs up

Lot of folks don't know it but the Lightning is rated to tow up to 8600 lbs. with a load equalizing hitch. I tow an approx. 6500 lb. boat and trailer, no problema. I did install a Roadmaster active supension kit http://www.activesuspension.com primarily to avoid wheel hop when launching but I believe it greatly helps the towing, too. I highly recommend it.
