4 Dodge vehicles surround my house.

A 99 Ram across the street, blew out the rear end(Ring gear and carrier broke in half and ejected itself out of the case while doing 65 down the hiway) with 40K on it and it smokes like a diesel.

98 Caravan next door, smokes like a diesel and makes F'ed up strange noises when going from park into drive or reverse at 35K.

00 Dakota next door, tranny toasted at 1,200 miles!!! after being at dealer for 3 WEEKS gets it home and the bearings in the rear end carrier are now bad.

97 Caravan two doors down, 50K and it smokes like a diesel burning oil. Tranny rebuilt twice.

My driveway, 95 F-150, 72K, replaced water pump and thermostat.

99 F-150, 23K, yeah, I still have to put gas in it...

00 Expy, 18K, I don't think my wife puts gas in it....

Question

"98 Caravan next door, smokes like a diesel and makes F'ed up strange noises when going from park into drive or reverse at 35K."

I am not trying to come up with excuses for DC vehicles, but I have never seen a Dodge Caravan travel at 35,000 mph. Anything will make strange noises when shifted in and out of reverse at that speed...

I traded in my '00 Dak QC with the 4.7 and 20k miles in for a '00 HD150. The Dak was quicker, but stopped at 98mph. The Dak's overall build quality was marginal and tranny was starting to make strange noises. The Harley truck is so vastly superior in every way, except straight line performance, the only thing the two trucks have in common is the fact they both need gas quite often. No more Dodge for me.

There was a guy I saw about 1.5 years ago driving a Dodge Ram in Carrollton, TX - good looking truck, one of the nice Dually models, anyway, his back glass had a lot of info on it - said he has had two transmissions, electrical problems, etc. And there was a phone number you could call and a website. It also said Dodge was trying to screw him over bad, so he was trying to put the word out on THEM. Heh. Nothing if not creative!

Only thing I've had to replace because of my truck are a couple sets of R/T headlights...Just seem to suck them out, and I can't explain why..Maybe it's that marginal build quality...

I can't blow out my dodge tranny with 700hp/1000 ft lbs. like any car company, it's the luck of the draw.
ps: i've tried for the last 120K (miles )
