If you want a Cobra R, then come down to Dallas, TX. There are several dealers selling them for $54k.

Once they sit there awhile longer, they'll be selling them for under sticker.

Question

Alpha: Isn't the RIO an MP3 player? How's he going to drive that around

99Corbaownerwithsuperlongname: Your logic is sound the only statement that confused me is
Second, I owe $15k on a car that I am about to get $20K for (how is this bad again?
Those numbers are not related... just because you're paying a car off faster than it is depeciating, doesn't mean you should get less for it - or be happy you're getting more than what you owe on it - you should sell the car for what its worth. I know nothing about Cobra's but is $20K a fair price? Seems low?!

And yes, anecdotally speaking, your insurance should go down.

Edmunds lists the invoice at: $28,223 + $715 dest + 3% dealer holdback... but who knows.

The $20k seems low, but unfortunately, trade-in realities on this car have confirmed this. I am sure I might be able to get him to go up a few hundred bucks, but he's offering me the Lightning at invoice, so we'll see.

Another open issue is whether he'll sell me the truck for invoice if I want to try to sell my car on the open market - I am not sure I want to deal with that hassle though, and the timing of possible being without a car.

Yes, I got those numbers from edmunds.com, too.

I am going to try and get a test drive this week.

Oh, and by the way, in late 98 I was told the '99 "would be the best one yet," too.

So, sadly, I don't give much weight to this consideration re: the '03.

99Cobraowner,

I understand what you're saying regarding the latest Cobras and the '03 model may not be what its supposed to be, either.

Trust me...I'm not holding my breath on this end.

I can tell you that you will be happy with an L. I've had mine for 18 months, and I'm very pleased with the purchase.

I have an opinion. Your name is too long. It screws up the screen.

Beyond that, get the Lightning. There is no substitute.
