Finally slammed the 04!!

Well I finally got the 04 L back from being lowered. I am very happy with the outcome. They had to do more work than I thought. A bunch of brackets had to be fabbed up and welded in. The cab and bed had to come off. The tank had to be dropped. Ebrake and exhuast brackets had to be moved and re-fabbed. The front fenders had to be rolled a little. After all is said and done it dropped about 5 1/2 in the front and 6 3/8 in the rear. Now I just have to get the rest of the body together and get it registered before winter comes.

The place did a custom kit. They do all custom hotrods/chopped cars etc... They did do the cnotch. They Bolted it in and then welded it also. They had to notch something in the front and weld some brackets in also. I drove it home from the place and it actaully rode real smooth. Everything is still stiff so......38 hrs labor.

dont get me wrong, the truck looks GREAT, white L's are my absolute favorite but i think you got taken on that drop kit a little. 38 hours? I'd like to see what all they exactly custom made. Move the hanger brackets up and lengthen the shackles? or just a simple flip kit with the c-notch? Then up front just cut a full coil off the stock coils? I'm just interested to know exactly what all was done. I've been through a good half dozen suspension setups on my 00 HD so I know these trucks running gear inside out forward & backwards. I can see why they removed the bed to do the cnotch and make it easier to work on, and remove the tank for safety with welding around there and getting to the back of the c-notch, but I see no reason why they'd have to ever remove the cab unless you had some other work done not related to the suspension

also what size rims & tires are they? I'm guessing 285/35/R22? doesnt look like a 5-1/2" & 6-3/8" drop. Low, but not quite that low. Mine is 3" up front and 4.5" in the rear and my front tires are 1/2" from the wheel well & looks like you've still got a good inch and a half up front, and less in the back. Also, the 03-04L's with the higher spring rate rear leafs sat way up higher in the rear. a good 2" higher in the rear than the front, so I dont see how your rear drop ended up sitting about an inch lower than the front looking at those pics, yet was only dropped 7/8" more than the front when stock the rear is sitting a good 2" higher than the front.

again, not a bash, the truck looks great, just some questions i was curious about

They did not cut the front coils they put new ones in. All other parts were made on site besides the spindles and shackles.

That looks sweet man. Are you going with painted side steps since you already have them off. Love the wheels. Great job

what other parts though? just curious because from the sounds of it you got hosed unless there was some other major work done. custom 4 link or something? otherwise there's no reason a drop kit should take 38 hours, and no reason to pull the cab or any of that.
