60 vs 42

are 60# injectors really needed to run 450-480RWHP?

just checking... upgrading to a whipple and wondering if they are needed fully, or is it a next step item?

I am upgrading my fuel pumps to the dual walboro 255's

I have heard 500 RWHP for the stock injectors..

I want to run a 3.4 upper and a 4lb lower and hopefully that will get me around 460RWHP... will this be safe on stock injectors? thats what I am curious about....

At that HP your at that "MAYBE" level ???

Many have gone 475-500 on the stock Fuel System and got away with it, but some couldnt. On paper 450-475 should be no prob BUT the only way you will really know is by having a good tuner strap it down and see if there's enough fuel to keep the AF safe, and to make sure the MAF is not maxing out (voltage wise). Personally I think you need to do the Maf, Inj, + Pumps, and then get it tuned once and correctly. If you hunt around you can find 60lb inj's cheap enough, and Maf's are always up for grabs (or a simple Maf Extender can be used)

Good Luck

I am doing the MAF, have a Big Air 2800, and doing the fuel pumps... walbro 255's...

is the stainless steal Y worth it, or can I use the stock plastic one, or is that too weak?

fuel rail is not needed to be upgraded is it?

I read somewhere that a Siemens 42 lb. "green top" injector could theoretically support up to 86 hp and a Siemens 60 lb. could support up to 120 hp.

I know a few guys running 500 H.P. using the stock injector. An eight cylinder engine with a flow rate of 42 lbs, can support 550 H.P. at almost 100% duty cycle. that is to say that the injectors are flowing 100% at that H.P. Realistically you want to run at 80-85 % duty cycle with any injector to be safe. That would put you at a tad under 500 H.P. at 85% , So you did hear correctly. As Rob mentioned, a good set of pumps would be good insurance for this set-up.
