Question License plate bracket

I just got my 2001 yesterday and it came without a bracket to hold the front license plate. Has this happened to anyone else?

The bracket should be in the truck. If you want it (why! they look like *****). Tell the dealer to get one, it's free and part of the original equipment. Some ******** probably stole it.

Agree with GE, why on earth would you want to put the ugly sucker on your truck? I know, you'll probably tell me IL law requires it. All I know is that CA law does, too, but I haven't had a front plate on a vehicle since '84 and haven't had a ticket for it yet, and yes, I have been stopped for other violations. Passing the attitude test is important. Maybe some of you IL drivers can report on how vigorous enforcement of this law is in your area.

Oregon requires it. $650.00 ticket if caught without it. Used to be just a fix it ticket. Show up to court with the problem fixed and they would dismiss it. Not anymore. $650 no breaks.

Yeah, mine came stuffed into the door compartments. I looked at it, thought it was some wierd cup holder, and it soon found itself in the trash. Kansas law doesn't require it.

Question

Anyone from TX know what the deal is if you get caught without a front license plate? The dealer didn't install & I really like the way it looks without it.

Silver-Bolt,
$650 in Oregon ? Are you sure ? I have never put mine on and I have never been bothered by the cops. (knock on wood) I would think that if it was $650 they would pull over anyone they saw without a plate on the front, just for easy money for the state.
When I bought my truck the frame was under the seat, and the screws were in the map pocket of the door. Still there too I think

No problems without one here in Texas. I've only seen front plates on a few of the 50-some-odd L's in our local Houston club. I've been pulled over (go figure) and they didn't say squat about the missing plate or the clear corner lights - of course, he was probably overjoyed for trapping me at 24 mph over the limit!

Folks,
Here in the south plains of
texas, a person will be stopped and ticketed. In most cases if one is cited out of their county, a snapshot of the owner and the vehicle (front end view w/tag in place) can be mailed in to the courthouse for dismissal. It's a cheesy law, but what D heck!! It's a shame that the front end bra that's offered from the Ford collection will only fit W/O the front bumper bracket....

Speaking of that Bra, has anyone tried it? I would like to have one for trips, but not if it mars the paint or fits poorly.

I have the Ford bra and it fits perfectly. I'm not sure what XJMD44 is referring to about the fit because the bra I have doesn't go over the bumper or license plate bracket (it fits just above the bumper). I have a supercab not a Lightning but I'm sure it wouldn't make much difference.

I bought it from Uftring Auto Mall in East Peoria. They shot me a great price I couldn't pass up and one of the salesman handles all their SVT purchases.

We got RED. We will be down in Decatur/Forsyth on Friday noon at Brown's truck Accessories to get a new ARE LSII lid for the back.

Cool

Marv1,
The bra on your F-150 does look like a great fit! I was referring to the bra offered from Ford thatis specific to the "Lightning".

I have called nearly all of the Car and Truck bra manufactures listed on the Web and
other means and the only bra found so far is the one listed in "The Ford Collection" I get this catalogue (in the mail) twice anually. If anyone finds a place where we can purchace these front covers, please let me know. When my RED 01 L gets here (Soon I hope) I want to keep bugs out of the upper and lower fins...

J.
