2003 oil change help and service manual

Hey guys gotta do my first oil change on my lightning (planing to do it this weekend). I've been doing oil changes for a while now, but first time on the lightning. Wondering how much oil you have to put in (I'll be replacing the filter).

Also I've searched a little on the service manuals, but wonder where most of you guys have gotten yours.

Thanks guys.

5w30? I thought we're supposed to be using 5w20...

I'll probably use mobile 1 this time (cause I'm short on time) then switch to royal purple. Thanks all.

I'm using what my engine builder recommends.

A lot of people make a big deal about using what the owners manual says, but it's not that big of a deal. My old tuner uses 10W-30 in everything he works on and has never had an issue.

The only real issue is (FILL-UP YOU’RE OIL FILTER “FULL” BEFORE INSTALLATION) and second, be absolutely sure to use a filter with the anti-flow back valve!!!

I used 10-30 for many miles, now I mostly use 5-20, because it gives me slightly better gas mileage, (about 11.5 MPG) when I’m behaving! 2001 L (with 91K) DD in South Houston, HOT, HOT!!!

She runs like a champ, no skips, stumbles, or smoke.. She has most bolt-ons, & lately she has been learning how to swim!!!!

You are kidding me, right????

Do you mean the 710 cap? (OIL)

It tightens to the right and loosens to the left!!

It’s difficult to over tighten because it has a self ratcheting mechanism, when the specific torque is reached it slips, and can be tighten no further!!

However; there is always a “however” if the 710 cap fails it can be “over tighten”, if so then it’s “force that is required, turning it to the left”, (we are taking about the cap on the front top, valve cover, passengers side).

Use as much force as required to remove, then; I would probably replace the cap!!!!!

hahahahaha thanks for answering probably one of the stupidest questions asked on this forum...
it was the 710 cap and just threw me off b/c it wasn't conventional. and you gotta turn it left a LOT to get to to move. thanks for the help.
