01Bolt,
There was suppose to be 7500 or so built for this year, although I have seen that number questioned on I believe it was the NLOC board.
When production has been completed you can call SVT and get your production number and the date the truck was built. You will also get the ultimate answer to how many were built.

Another board member talked to FORD and they told him that the 7,000 or 7,500 number is just a projection, and they are prepared to make that many if the demand is there. If the demand is not there, they will obvioulsly make less. I bought my truck in March 2000, and got my SVT certificate about one month ago with the build number and date on it. Tom

You probably won't see the official numbers until Sept-Oct after the last one is built.

Thumbs up

with the .com crash..and now the telecommunications crash...considering there are more people worldwide employed in telecom than any other industry..and the wages are above average...7,500...yeah..right...there are 2000's sitting on the lot still...call it a semi-depression..a correction of the economy...perhaps?? People are falling like flies out in the Silicon Valley...and Dallas, Texas is starting to reel...from the lack of venture capitalist monies..the NASDAQ...52 week high of around 5,200 and its about 2,100 now...alot of people just lost their ***! Auto lots are stacking knee deep...housing..and the auto industry alway get hit hard...I will be surprised to see any more than 4,966 built...IMHO

All of our 2000's sold quickly (no markups, just MSRP on L's) before the market turned down and then we were hit hard by the .com and tech stock tumble being just 20 miles from Microsoft headquarters.

The Seattle area vehicle sales have been soft since December and it's showing on SVT products now. We've sold & delivered but one 2001 L (thank you Frans!) with no others presold. Only 2 presold Cobra's now also - one coupe, one vert. And the non-SVT Bullitt Mustang: just one existing presold of the five we ordered.

SVT told us in the last live satellite update to dealers a couple weeks ago that the 7500 would probably drop to 7000 for 2001. With the extra power, better gears, and intake/intercooler upgrades I believe all 7000 will sell easier than you may think.

ford will adventuly make the lightnings as common as the cobra(how many are made each year?). i think they shouldn't go over 5,000 a year IMHO, look at the harley f-150... they made like 8,000 and i see them a whole lot more than the lightnings.
