i need some tires badly but dont have a lot of cash. my 00L is my daily driver so i cant get the nitto 555r drags for the rear because i heard they can crack in under 32 degree temps during the winter. has anyone tried the hankook tires? they are the cheapest and i just need a tire for the winter.... and can anyone get me a good deal on tires for my truck??? thanks alot

The Hankook is a great tire, but not for snow.

What area are you in?

I was able to go thru winter with toyo's with no problem...this was in south west pennsylvania and southern west virgina. Ive driven several rear wheel drive car's in snow, and my truck was by far the best. I actually got arund better than some fwd honda's, made a few friends look bad.

so they dont hook? well i kno not many tires do hook unless you go with a drag radial but how are the toyo proxes? do they hook at all? my goodyear eagle f1s dont hook at all and i dont feel like spending 275 a tire to get new ones.....

They are a good get around tire, They will not hook well, the 40,000 mi. rating they give is for normal everyday grandma driving, they work for me on the everyday driving because they are less expensive than the others, and I have other tires for weekend play, and track time.

mine only gets driven in the summer, No snow or salt period, but I also budget a minimum of 1 pair of rear tires for strip and 1 pair for street each season

I am shocked at how well they wear. I have had my L to the track 3 times and have ran it a total of 6 times, each time i did a fairly good sized burnout and i can barely see any wear on the tires.

Like i said ive never had any other tires on the truck so i dont know what the other ones feel like but these hankooks seem like they hook pretty well in on a dry road. Not like i can punch it off the line but i can roll the throttle on pretty quick with only a few chirps.

I have them. Cheapest tire you can buy. They won't hook that much worse than any other regular radial (IMO) but they supposedly last a lot longer. If you want hook, get a cheap set of steel rims and buy some 255/55/16 Mickey Thompsons. The extra gear from the smaller diameter seems to help my truck in the 1/4 mile.

I am sure that my truck feels a little more "soggy" on the highway with the Hankooks, like the sidewall isn't as still as the F1's. Other than that, no complaints.
