Question question about boost

so stock boost is 8 psi right?...well when i'm not into the boost the needle lays completely flat..not even at zero..is that right?shouldnt it be at zero?...but when i go WOT it goes completely vertical all the way to 10...does that mean i have an aftermarket pulley, the needle is loose? how can i tell if it is an aftermarket pulley or not? thanks for the help.

Take a Picture of your Upper AND LOWER Pulley
OR
Go measure BOTH and tell us what you have...

If your cruising along YES it will lay flat "if" your out of the Boost
BUT
If you take off from a stop and get into the boost you should see it moving
and Yes when you stab it it will get burried.... (mine will burry it at 1/3 - 1/2 throttle)

Your better off getting an aftermarket Vac/Boost gauge, the one that came in the L's aren't the most reliable.
