Question Excessive whiplash in power train.

Has any one noticed excessive whip lash in the power train. What I mean is when you excelerate and let your foot off the gas pedal quite rapidly and push down the gas pedal quite quickly I notice excessive play and pick up a clunking noise. Thanks. Bob

Question

Excessive play compared to what ?

Try doing it with the O/D off. Remember the converter unlocks when you get off the gas.

What you are doing is hard on the drivetrain. The momentary load is very high, when you load the engine/box in deceleration, accelerate through the free play and then loading it the other way.

What the heck do you expect when you PUNISH the drive train with rapid ON OFF ON throttle applications ?

Now guys take it easy. I dont make a habit of doing this. It just seemed to be more slack in the drive train than any other vehicle I have owned.I have only done this once and thats how I noticed it.Maybe because of the power and torque of the truck it is more noticeable. Bob.
