Post SVTOA ?

Does anyone else find it pretty tacky of SVT to charge SVT owners for their web site? I went to the site to look for information on a SVT event in Seattle. Other than seeing the date on the main page you cannot get any info from the site unless you pay. Pretty cheesey if you ask me. Pay big bucks for their product and have to pay again for the site. They should pay attention to the sucess of this site and re-evaluate. My .02

Yes I second that, it sucks, I know web hosting is expensive, but I would think that we would be able to get a membership for something like $10.00 a year at most!!

How about giving lightning owners A one year free subscription. No way they only spent $30,000. Thanks Ford for being generous. When I bought my escort one month later came a bottle of free touch up paint.Have not seen that with the L.

SVTOA is not Ford, it is privately owned, just like F150 Online, but you don't have the ads. Ads or fees you have to pay some way.

I paid to join the SVTOA, before I found this place. If anyone wants info from there that's for members only, let me know and I'll get it for you.

So far, there hasn't been anything too interesting there. There is a nice member directory though, which lists name, city, and vehicle. It's good for finding local people to talk shop with. (It's also good for someone wanting to steal SVTs!)

Come on my page will get almost 300,000 hits this month and only costs $20 bucks a month to host. SVTOA is associated with Ford or Ford wouldnt be pushing it so hard. I have gotten more than one mailing from Ford advertiseing SVTOA.

This is an example of pure greed. I would much prefer to see decent content with ads then have a paid site and a paid newsletter with no content. The idea of a recurring revenue steream is too atractive too pass up I guess. Trouble is if they dont get some content they will never get enough subscriptions to make it profitable

I filled out all the mumbo jumbo online and gave them my cc number and still cant get in with the user name and password i picked. I did e-mail and got an answer the next day saying i would be able to get in "later that afternoon if not already" well the next day i still couldnt get in, so i e-mailed again and thats where we stand, BTW that was about 2 weeks ago.

Sounds like a good way for Ford to monitor the vehicles. You have to give them your SVT# to join. Be pretty foolish to list any mods on that site. Easy enough for them to watch us here.

I checked it out to try and find out info on their SVT event in Seattle this summer. Have to pay to play.

All that you have to do is buy an '01 L,Cobra,or other new model SVT, and you get 1 year free membership to SVTOA. It is in the newest issue of SVT enthusiast.

I heard through the grapevine that they considered making it a free site but they wanted to keep some of the riff-raff out.
